I want to buy my son a turtle for Christmas..This question is for people who have or have had turtles only...Others need not post, please. I want something small, that wont get very big...That is easy to maintain..I understand I will be caring for the turtle primarily, as my son is only 5. (and im not worried about salmonella, my son wont put a turtle in his mouth, and we will wash hands before and after handling the turtle..)
What did you find worked best? Where did you shop?

I've been doing research on vaccines lately. One of the things I've repeatedly read is that a state cannot require vaccines for children in order to enter school. Schools and medical professionals tell parents that, but they can't keep a child from attending school. Most schools say you have to have a philosophical, medical or religious reason if you choose not to vaccinate. But this is not true. How do they get away with that?

The same goes for day care, as well. There have been several legal cases against day cares for attempting to keep unvaccinated children, as well as children with other diseases, out of their facilities under the discrimination umbrella.

What are your thoughts on this issue?

I am scheduled for a c-section on Nov. 30 and I am so confused as to whether or not to have my almost 4 year old son at the hospital. I had so many complications with him during his birth, I'm afraid to have him there. We're planning to send him to school in the morning and have my husband or mom pick him up just as soon as possible. Is this fair to him? I really want him to be there! Were your older children present for the birth of the baby? What were your / their experiences? Is it better for bonding purposes? Thanks!!

My son is 18 months old and is still not saying words. He babbles constantly and is always trying to talk. I try to teach him more and do a little “speech therapy” like saying mamamama dadadada lalalala making sounds with he’s mouth but he just gets frustrated or loses interest in what I’m saying. I read to him a lot and teach him objects and everything. He appears to understand everything. All commands that I say to do or not to he understands very well. I don’t know if it’s me, that’s not trying hard enough or what?

With my daughter, 6 years ago...I had the worst hospital experience ever. I had a c-section which went fine and a wonderful labor and delivery nurse. After that, things went completely downhill. The rest of my nurses during that day and night were horrible, rude and NEVER came to my room...even when I pused the nurse button. At 10 at night they moved me out of the maturnity ward and into a "Women's crisis unit", which had NO heat on in March. They basically brought me in there with my baby, put me on the bed and never came back...despite me pushing the nurse button over a dozen times. My family ended up coming back up to the hospital DEMANDING some answers, and the next morning, they moved me back to the Maturnity ward and treated me fine. The things is...when asking why I was even moved to being with, they claimed they "needed" that room for other mothers, which ended up being a complete lie. I was 19 then and I am 26 now. How can I make this experience different from the last?

I'm sick of sitting around the house, and I could use the extra money right now, but I don't think any one's gonna hire a pregnant woman. I'm not showing yet, but I will be soon. What should I do, and were should I look?

I know people have their own views about modelling, however I want my son to be a catalodue/magazine model, I also know that every parent thinks their child gorgeous. I know that my son has what it takes to be a model and loves to pose for the camera. He will still be a child and have a normal childhood like any other. I just need some tips on how to go about finding a genuine agency. I'm not intersted in comments about what people think is right or wrong (sorry to sound rude but i've read some other comments which just don't help!). All money that my son earns will go into his own bank account to hopefully provide him with a good start later in life.

My son is 1 yr old and is very advanced, has been since birth. He started walking at 7 months and well, basically I have a 1 yr old toddler. He's into everything, climbs on everything, he's VERY strong and very smart. The problem is he doesn't care when someone says "NO". He knows what it means but he doesn't seem to really care. He'll go back to that same thing I said no to about 10 times before he loses interest and tries something else.

I just feel funny because he IS so small but he's so advanced that it's something my husband and I need to deal with. How can I discipline him other than saying NO? He's too small to understand time-out and to sit there and too small to have toys taken away, he'll just move on to something else.

I'm also new to all this being that my family is 7 girls and no boys. My son is the first boy and I'm not quite sure what to do with boys. I know most of this is boy behavior but any tips on how to really do this? Or is NO the only solution?

Thanks

How soon should they be able to see the babies heartbeat with a sonogram??? This is my second baby, third pregnancy, with my son the dr wouldnt see me until I was 14 weeks pregnant. I found out 2 weeks ago I am pregnant again, I am so excited, but when we went to the OB yesterday they didnt see a heartbeat, but I am only about 3 weeks pregnant. With my first pregnancy I was 10 weeks when I saw the dr and the baby didnt have a heartbeat, I had had a missed miscarriage. Is it just to soon to see the heart beat??? I am kinda worried and for some reason I didnt ask the dr I guess because I am was too afraid of what she might say. We really want this baby. I go back on monday for more blood. I am gonna ask then but I wanted to ask everyone.

Are women today in need of a heart to heart talk with thier mother about the "facts of life". Does no one live near a dollar store to buy a pregnacy test? Is simple biology 101 beyond the females of today?

I tried taking prenatal vitamins during the first few months of my pregnancy, but had horrible side effects. So, at the doctor's advice I switched to Flinstone vitamins. However, everytime I would try to take one my gag reflexes went into full effect and I would end up throwing up.

So, I haven't taken my prenatal vitamins regularly. How much will this hurt my baby (who the doctor says appears to be healthy)?
