Not really sure. This happened to my 2 1/2 year old a few weeks ago, only the timing was opposite--he ran a 102 fever during the day, my husband gave him a dose of Tylenol, the fever went down, and by the next morning it was gone completely. It never came back, and he seemed none the worse for wear. :)

Night Terrors:

This is different than just having a nightmare. It includes sudden awakening from sleep, persistent fear or terror that occurs at night, screaming, sweating, confusion, rapid heart rate, inability to explain what happened, usually no recall of "bad dreams" or nightmares, may have a vague sense of frightening images.

Many people hallucinate and are unable to fully awake, difficult to comfort, with no memory of the event on awakening the next day. ...emotional stress during the previous day and a high fever are thought to precipitate most episodes, usually all symptoms will disappear by the next day.

Because a fever is an indication that the immune system is doing it's job. Combine that with the fact that kids heal rather quickly and bounce back fast, and you've got your answer. If the fever continues for more than 24 hours, then contact your advise nurse, but honestly, he's probably just fine.

Most likely the child is trying to fight an infection or something. You should try to bring the fever down as soon as possible, fever can mess you up. Call the doctor and see what they say but most likely they will say its a virus. and it just has to run its course.

Fevers seem to run higher at night. But your son has an infection some where in his body he should be on antibiotics. Waiting to long can literally cook his brain and cause damage to his learning abilities.

It could be an infection of some sort.
Usually fevers spike later in the day.
For example a uranary tract infection

Take him to the doctors a.s.a.p
The longer the infection "could" be growing the worse he will feel.

The human body, especially a young one, is capable of remarkable feats of healing. Could have been something bad passing through his system and his immune system kicked into overdrive and fought it off. He'll be stronger because of it. Glad that things turned out fine.

Honestly every child is different and with all the many possible things it could be I'd go ahead and call his Pediatrician. There could be an infection somewhere there needs to be looked at immediately.I hope it isn't anything serious...

Good Luck,

That's what kids do!
Got three. None were sick from 7a.m. to 8p.m.
They get sick and vomit anywhere from 3a.m. to 5a.m.
By 7a.m. they are ready to go while you are wiped out.
However, 103 temp is not to be messed with. My doctor said to call him when a temp reached 101 - so, I would ask you to call your doctor for advice.

In the meantime, keep him hydrated - water, room temp defizzed ginger ale, apple juice, whatever it takes.
