I have a 6 month old who sleeps through most of the night. Lately he's been waking once or twice a night but I give him his pacifier a d rub his head for a little bit and he will go back to sleep. But he's been waking at 7:00 am lately and the only way for me to get him back to sleep then is to lay him with me. Then he'll sleep til 8:30-9:00 am. He has a full bottle and either veggies or cereal. He's also teething. Are there any suggestions to how I can get him to sleep longer? I know many parents say not to let baby sleep with you b.c he will not want to sleep in the crib but he does sleep in his crib and he is only sleeping with me for an hour or two. Is this ok?
Thanks for the help.

What I mean is, I have seen "parents", even on Y!A who can't spell or properly use grammar and who seem uneducated (or at least, undereducated). Do you feel that children learn more from their parents or more from school? If a child goes to a decent school, but comes home to uneducated parents, which has more influence?(Please explain. No "yes" or "no" answers just to get points.)

Any nutrionists out there/ My daughter has a great diet. She eats most anything from fruits, veg, meat. Anything. She has a well balanced diet and is very healthy. Only been sick once in her young life and that was due to teething.

My problem is my mother thinks I am giving her too much fruit, saying it is very bad for her tummy and that it could end up burning a whole in in tummy with all the acid in it.

I give her raspberries, blueberries, grapes, banana's, mandrin's, apples, melon, pineapple. She also gets cheese, milk, chicken, beef, eggs, brocolli, cauliflower, carrotts, pea, mixed beans, potatoes, etc as I said a very healthy diet. But can that fruit be too much for her.

For an afternoon snack / dessert I would give her about 5 raspberries, 3 strawberries and 6 grapes on average. However she wouldn't have this everyday.

My question is.... Is this too much for a 16 month old. Bear in mind she loves it.

I asked a question the other day: "My toddler has officially started his terrible twos. My family isn't helping. Suggestions?"
It had NOTHING to do with asking for advice on how to discipline my son, yet the last answerer felt it necessary to tell me that I should only be using time outs and no swats.
Annoying, to say the least, considering that we know our child and what works for him and us and she doesn't. Annoying also because that wasn't what the question was about.
She sounded just like my stepmom... "Oh, he's just a baby. You're being too hard on him, blah, blah, blah....."
She cited him hitting the dog as a backing to her methods. What she didn't realize is that he's tried to hit the dog since long before he started getting swats. And a friend of ours uses only time outs, no spankings...her kids hit.
I feel like most kids just go through this phase. I know for a fact it wasn't taught, at least in our case.
What do you do when people tell you how to discipline your child?

Im 17 and i absolutely loved children and i think i want a baby. I know what its like to have a baby because i practically raised my nepew, i have him more than his mother does. He'll call me mommy before he will his real mom. Eversince the day he was born ive took care of him. Its just something in me that wants a baby. Reguarless of what happens im going to finish school(high school and college) and be successful and take good care of my child. Ive been knowing this guy for 8 or 9 nine years and weve always been friends and we jus started talking. I had a dream that i had his baby and we were all happy 2gether. One day i was babysitting and he came over and was playing with my nephew and little cousin and it kind of warmed my heart to see him playing with them it was like a scene out of a movie when a father comes home and plays with his kids. I wonder if my dream is a sign should i have a baby? I know if i do have a baby it wont be until after my highschool graduation.

Ok so i just talked with my doctor about my ultrasound that i had on Monday which dated my pregnancy at 17weeks 4 days, so i was curious if that date includes the 2 weeks or so that you aren't actually pregnant(the time before conception) and he said it doesn't. Why i am confused is because the doc is basically saying i got pregnant just before my period, which i might add was a completely normal period(june13th/07), on time and full of fair sized clots. Also because i am on seizure meds i had to take HPT everyday that way i would know when to stop the seizure meds and i never got my positive until July9th/07. Would it really take that long for a positive to show up? Is my doctor wrong? He said ultrasounds at 17 weeks 4 days are very accurate to the day, is this also true?

Remember life before breastfeeding? I barely do and don't get me wrong and I love BF my son but things I miss are:
Drinking real milk not soy milk
Eating cheese
Chinese food!!!!
Fast food
One size breasts at all times
Drinking an occasional alcoholic beverage

You know now that I see what I have typed maybe I should breastfeed forever!! I'm much healthier this way!!

I am 35 week pregnant with my second child and I went to the doctor today and she said I was having a contraction, but I could not feel it. She said as long as it is not painful but it could be helping dialate your cervix then that is great. Are these real contractions even though I can not feel them or braxton hicks? She was asking me a couple of questions when she made this comment and I didn't even think to ask her while I was in there.

In my house, my mom's ideal soap threat was Palmolive dish liquid; mainly because it was the only soap she used to wash dishes and knew it tasted like crap. I absolutely hated it when they made the bottle smaller in the Ultra soap because the bigger bottles were easier to knock out of her hand, the smaller one had the tight grip and she was able to hold onto it much easier.

Palmolive tastes like crap, I can't use that soap to this day.

I'm a desperate mom of a 15 year old girl. She has been skipping school recently, and i actually blame this one on the school. The school she attends is no good at all, and they judge her for everything she does. I know this because i get phone calls constantly from them trying to get me angry with her in some stupid way or another. Today for instance she had got assigned an ISS for having her midrift show as her shirt slid up as she was walking up the stairs. She also hasn't been eating lately, she thinks she's "chubby". She weighs 105 pounds, that's underweight! We can't get her to eat anything except for dinner. She also came to me day before yesterday and opened up to me about how she has been sleeping with her current boyfriend of 3 years. I know they have been together for quite some time, but that's no excuse. She also has recently told me she is a bisexual. I'm just confused as to where i'm going wrong here. What can i do, what should i do?

Ok so I was suppose to get my period 7 days ago.
Is it possible to take a pregnancy test now, or do I have to wait for so many days?

Especially if the child is being mean to other kids (including your own)? What do you do? Is it okay to try and discipline him or her? Do you contact the police because the child is not being watched by an adult? What would YOU do?

P.S. I'm talking about a child that is about 4 or 5 years old.

I was just wondering how everyone disciplines their own kids. You think that once in a while they need a little spanking? You think is cruel? If the kid just answers back to you, and does not obey at all... how you handle it?

I would really love to hear more positive adoption stories, and yes, I know they are out there!!! I know many people who are adopted and are happy!! For those of you who are adoptees and have had a bad experience, I am curious to know what about your adoptive family hurt you so much. I have a 3 1/2 month old adopted daughter and I want to do what I can to avoid her feeling the same way when she is older.

My toddler is very smart when it comes to her body parts. She knows almost all of them but is having some confusion in telling the difference between eyes and ears.

I know that seems silly but it bugs the crap outta me. I don't know how to help her.

She can tell the difference between lips and her tongue, her head and her face, her hand and her fingers ect but if you say ears or eyes she always points to her eyes and always calls her ears "eyes".

Any tips on getting her to understnad the difference?
