In my house, my mom's ideal soap threat was Palmolive dish liquid; mainly because it was the only soap she used to wash dishes and knew it tasted like crap. I absolutely hated it when they made the bottle smaller in the Ultra soap because the bigger bottles were easier to knock out of her hand, the smaller one had the tight grip and she was able to hold onto it much easier.

Palmolive tastes like crap, I can't use that soap to this day.

No..no soap was about 6-7 and I said a bad word my mom chased me around the house with a lighter and spoon threatening if I were to ever cuss again she'd burn my tongue right off. Scary as hell when i was a kid but kinda funny now. I had just gotten out of the bath and i was butt naked running for dear life thinking she was gonna actually do it.

I used to use this ugly tar based shampoo for some nasty dandruff. One day, in the shower, I accidentally inhaled a glob of it.

YEEEOOW! Burned like heck, down my throat and I coughed for a couple of hours. I didn't go to a doctor, because I was afraid to tell my mom.

My mother would put drops of Tabasco sauce on my tongue when I told a lie.

My step-mother makes her children take a bite out of a bar of soap when they tell a lie or swear. She said it is more effective because it sticks in their teeth!

I will not do either to my children.

I didn't but the abusive family down the street did it all the time....

I don't put soap in my kids mouths. Words are words and I don't even understand where the concept of "bad" words came from. I allow my kids to use whatever words they see fit. I've told them that they should use respect around elders and school officials but otherwise they are free to say what they want. It's rare that I hear them use one of these words but if they do, it's in the correct context.

No, my parents did not wash my mouth out with soap. They knew of better and healthier ways of discipline.

I totally agree with Texas.girl, Why should we punish our kids when they are learning from us. While growing up kids look at you to teach them everything, walk, talk, feed themselves, they are learning from your example. But the minute they repeat a "bad" word they heard you say..the kids usually get "do as I say not as i do" ....it's ridiculus. If you don't want your kids to cuss don't teach them the words. and when they get old enough and they hear it from school teach them its inappropriate for anyone to say. And no we didn't get soap in our mouths, we got Smacked in the mouth
