I am 35 week pregnant with my second child and I went to the doctor today and she said I was having a contraction, but I could not feel it. She said as long as it is not painful but it could be helping dialate your cervix then that is great. Are these real contractions even though I can not feel them or braxton hicks? She was asking me a couple of questions when she made this comment and I didn't even think to ask her while I was in there.

A real contraction doesn't have to be 'painful' to be real...and usually until you are in labor it will mostly feel like a tightening in your belly. They call Braxton Hicks contractions such because it's usually just one or two...they aren't regular and go away really quickly (they are still real though). You will have tons of these before you go into labor to 'train' your body for the real thing. Sorta like trying to run the Boston marathon without first being able to run a mile.

You'll know the difference between real labor and false labor when certain other things happen...if contractions can be timed at regular intervals for an hour or more, if drinking water and propping your feet up doesn't lessen the pain or stop contractions altogether. If you can't 'talk through the pain' meaning that it hurts so bad that you can't speak if you wanted to. Or if your water breaks....and keep in mind that only 10% of pregnant women have their water break on their own. Everyone else has the Dr do it at the hospital.

Good luck.

Theres no difference between the two, except with labor they are much closer together and building in intensity. Up until the point of labor they can be painless, in only small regions of your belly, they can be from your back to your whole belly, and even be quite painful.

The difference is the timing and the intensity, and the state of your baby and cervix.

I labored 43 1/2 hours, my contractions were inconsistent even while pushing. So regularity doesnt have much to do with it either.

Braxton hicks tend to stop when you lay down and drink water and relax for half an hour or so. Labor contractions dont stop, no matter what you do.

I was 35 weeks when I strarted contracting, in my birthing class of all places. I was checked in the hospital and they gave me a shot to stop the contractions then later a pill cuz they wouldnt stop. But they did not hurt at all. The great thing was that I got a note from my doc for me to stop working! I had to stay in bed for a couple weeks, then I was induced at 37 weeks cuz I had high blood pressure. So maybe call her and ask some questions. Good luck and congrats

It certain sounds find it irresistible. Go verify it out! If it isn't, they are going to ship you house that is all! I had a fake alarm in the future earlier than my specific supply. On the primary day, at round midday, the physician mentioned I used to be no longer even dilated or effaced, not anything taking place, and mentioned to not fear, and take leisure at house. In the midnight following (round two.30am), I began truly contractions. They were10 mins aside first, then got here in nearer in combination, to just three-four mins aside. That's while I rushed to the sanatorium, and my water broke within the ready room on the emergency (looking forward to a wheelchair!). So, simply to mention, it may possibly occur instead speedily. A little over part an afternoon for me, and I had my lovely little one with me on the sanatorium! Just ask the physician to verify it. At forty one weeks and a couple of days, I might no longer even wait to believe the "agony". Periods cramps is what it feel to believe like to start with...and theeeen it will get dangerous! Well all in all, well good fortune my pricey. I wish it is a first-rate supply! Congratulations!

i'm 38.5 weeks preg. with my second child also, and i would say that they most likely are braxton hicks, but you may be in the very beginning phase of labor, which i dont know about you, but i would be very proud about! but dont worry i dont know if your remember or not, but when you get into "real" labor that actually counts, you'll know it! i've been in the first phase of labor for a week now! it SUCKS!!!! good luck;)
