Any nutrionists out there/ My daughter has a great diet. She eats most anything from fruits, veg, meat. Anything. She has a well balanced diet and is very healthy. Only been sick once in her young life and that was due to teething.

My problem is my mother thinks I am giving her too much fruit, saying it is very bad for her tummy and that it could end up burning a whole in in tummy with all the acid in it.

I give her raspberries, blueberries, grapes, banana's, mandrin's, apples, melon, pineapple. She also gets cheese, milk, chicken, beef, eggs, brocolli, cauliflower, carrotts, pea, mixed beans, potatoes, etc as I said a very healthy diet. But can that fruit be too much for her.

For an afternoon snack / dessert I would give her about 5 raspberries, 3 strawberries and 6 grapes on average. However she wouldn't have this everyday.

My question is.... Is this too much for a 16 month old. Bear in mind she loves it.

How wonderful to meet a mother who is wondering if she is giving her child too much fruit instead of too much fastfood. I don't think fruit has that much natural acid unless its grapefruits and lemons. As long as your daughter is drinking the normal amount of fluids and doesn't show any signs in her diaper that it's too much all I can say is great job to you. She would have diarrhea if it was upsetting her stomach. Congrats!

Too much citrus can irritate a sensitive stomach, but theres nothing to suggest that a healthy child cannot digest it without issue.

My son is 8 months and eats everything you have mentioned on a daily basis. Including meat and dairy. He even drinks about 8 oz of regular milk. (dont tell the pedinazi's, but he actually hasnt suffered at all from it, neither did I or any of my siblngs).

A healthy diet is a healthy diet. The only thing you avoid are things that can cause allergies. You wait until theyre toddlers for certain things because until then they cannot react properly to allergens, and without them they can build up serious sensitivities.

Tell your mom to chill out.

My children eat a lot of fruit as well, they love it, especially my daughter who is just 3. I encourage it and let her eat as much as she likes. They have fruit with breakfast, lunch and dinner and sometimes for snacks. I try to vary what fruit they have each day and throughout the week. There could be much worse things that she was eating lots of, so I wouldn't worry. But talk to your pediatrician at her next well child visit.

All of our children ate a large amount of fruits and vegetables. They also eat a lot of meats and seafood. Nothing wrong with this. If your child is healthy, happy, growing and learning, and her diet is nutritious what is the problem. Tell your mom you checked with the experts and it is OK and to stop worrying.

I disagree with your mother ... fruit is definately an important part of a healthy diet and the portion sizes you're serving seem just right.

i think this is fine. the only fruits i regulate are citrus (oranges, pineapple) because of the acid
and bananas because they're binding.

other than that,
fruit with the word BERRY at the end are best, the darker the better.

No, fruit especially berries has brain building antioxidents. Now mix some flax in her oatmeal and you'll be all set.

If you have not noticed any reaction to any of these foods yet, then I think she will be fine.
