I am inviting my son's headstart class to his birthday party. We are not as "low income" as some of the other families in his class. I told my husband I was going to invite them and put "no need to bring gifts, come and enjoy pizza and cake" on the invites. My husband says it would not be nice for our son to open all his new toys in front of the other children since they may not get that nice of toys for their birthdays. If I make goodie bags for the other kids would it be rude for my son to open his gifts in front of them?

We have girls that share a room, I was thinking of getting them bunk beds to free up some space, instead of having two beds side by side in the room. The room isnt really big so thats why I was leaning more towards bunk bed's
I was a little concerned about them jumping from the top down. If you have had or have bed beds for your children what do you think of them?

We're up in the air on our choices for a baby boys name. Which sounds better, Brett Campbell or Gavin Campbell? We'd also like it to go with our first child's name, Ryan.

Also, just in case the baby turns out to be a girl, what do you think of Casey?

I am afraid to buy toys made in China for my kids. I have 2 birthdays and Christmas coming up. Where can I get toys not made in China and what brands are they?

I just found out "children are not invited, this is an adult shower."
Am I over reacting??? This lady is a family member and all my other female family members will be there so they can't babysit... (my husband isn't available.) How can you have so much family in a room and not have the kids?
I just don't understand what she has planned that would makes this an adult only party. Even if it is "age appropriate" material, by 11 month old surely isn't going to have any idea what is going on.

me and my girlfriend watched little miss sunshine the other night and we were commenting on whether it was always due to parental influence, or if the child would get the idea herself maybe. i think that an 8 year old girl could be influenced by things she sees on tv (beautiful women etc), things at school, magazines, toys (like those god-awful bratz or whatever) things in the street etc and decide herself that she would want to do something like a beauty contest. my girfriend disagrees and believes that this kind of influence can only come from parents, the kind of parents you read about in those 'real life' magazines under headlines like 'my 5 year old wants to be a glamour model and i support her all the way' kinda thing. what do you think? i gave the example that when i was 8 i got into birds, which wasn't something that came from my parents, although fair enough they supported this healthy interest,(according to my girlf, this is completely different though and not valid).

My son is nearly 17months old.For the past week he has told me when he has dirtied his nappy. I thought this is a sign that they are ready to potty train. However I only want to potty train him when he is ready and do not want to push him into potty training if he is not ready.Do you think he is ready and do you have any tips that would be helpful. I have bought a potty and just had it out so that he can get used to it .How old was your child when you potty trained them. I was expecting to start potty training him around two years old. Thanks

It is known fact that exclusive breastfeeding is the best for the baby. I guess I didn't realize that in the very beginning and let nurses in hospital feed my baby a formula. I would estimate that my baby was given a total of 6oz of formula first week.
After that he was exclusively breastfed and is still being breastfed at 5 months of age.
My question is how harmful that formula might have been to my baby? My husband's family has severe cases of astma and allergies, I found out late that exclusive breasfeeding may prevent my baby from it. What are the chances of him developing allergies now? is the fact he is breastfed now worthless beause of that formula in hospital?

I have a 16 month old. Is it necessary to brush her teeth? I am pretty sure she doesn't know how to spit. What is the correct way to do it? She has two teeth on top, and two on bottom.

I've asked a lot of questions about this, but it's driving me insane! My boyfriend and I have been trying for a baby for about 15months now with no luck!I've been taking Sanatogen pills....Anybody know of any others that are good with TTC, that have the RDA of folic acid??
I've tried laying on my back for 30mins after sex, eating healthy etc etc etc!
I get so stressed about it every month because every month my boobs are sore, some months I feel nauseous, and yet I still haven't become pregnant!
I need some good tips for TTC, and maybe some good ideas of tablets I can take (UK), and ways to stop stressing about it!
Because I know stressing about it doesn't help! :D

I've blabbed quite alot....sorry peeps!
Any ideas would be great!
Thanks! :D

however I had been drinking on almost a nightly routine.. and I mean more than just a few drinks... Now Im very worried about FAS and what I have done. I did stop when I found out but still very very nervous. Anyone have this happen to them in the past, how did things turn out?

(never had periods to realize I missed any, and had not gained any substantial weight to think I was pregnant. My first daughter I did not know until I was 19 weeks along, that was 2 1/2 years ago)

Who do we blame for the allowance of lead base paint toys into the country? Its obvious that those whom are entrusted to take care of the safety of our children have no concerns over the public health of our children. I know the govt doesnt care ne thing about us at all, but where are all the watch dog groups that are/were children safety advocates? The fda or who ever else was supposed to be doing the job wasnt doing the job. It pisses me off that we have spent billions on these toys throughout the years and this is all we get. We need to boycott these corporations and file a massive lawsuit against all those involved from the companies who made the toys to the ones who allowed them into the country, for I know we all have or have had these toys in our homes. Let me know your opinions. Please serious answers for we have put our kids safety in jeopardy. I am a new parent so to some extent I blame myself for not doing my research however someone needs to pay for putting our kids at risk

I'm 39th week pregnant and I have had some painful contractions already 2 hours (in intervals of 20-25 minutes). My parents are at work and I'm home alone (they often take night shifts too).We live far from the city and I can't find my cellphone (if I have to call an ambulance),I think my mom got it with her at work by accident. If this is labor,is there any way to call an ambulance using the internet?I'm really afraid what would happen if I am in labor?I would be alone at home for the next 9 hours. What can I do,I'm in panic...
I forgot - I'm 15

DH and I plan to name our baby girl Annalise. Ultimately it's a combination of the names Anna and Elizabeth. We are really stuck trying to find a middle name. We could just name her Anna Elizabeth and call her Annalise, but I think I want her first name to be Annalise. What's better: Annalise Something, Annalise alone, or Anna Elizabeth aka "Annalise"?
