Pregnancy & Parenting - 4 June 2007

I am a little over 20 weeks pregnant (with my fourth) and went to the doctor today only to hear what sounded like TWO different heartbeats!! ( mine was clearly distiguished from the two) they were both in the 160's! My doctor is trying to get my ultrasound moved from later to sooner (because of this) but what i need to know is, Does this happen very often, if you are NOT carring more than one baby? i have heard of echoes and such, but this was different than that, sounded clearly like TWO babies!! i feel like im only having one and havent gained much weight at all! i weigh only 107. but my husbands father was a twin!! what should i be thinking???!!! lol please help!!

My 7 year old has a very big problem staying focused. I tell him to eat dinner he ends up talking most of the time, and yes I stop him. When he does take a bite it is a speck of food and then he tries to talk again. And pretty much every night he gets in the tub and plays instead of washing himself, only after being told a dozen times to wash and get out does he finilly do it. I don't try to harp him but i do stay on him. It gets SO fustrating though. If anyone has advice it would be much appreciated.

ok im 24 weeks pregnant and of course my luck, one of my wisdom teeth decided that now is the best time to come in, tyelenol doesnt help with the pain and seeing as its my first wisdom tooth i dont really know what helps with the pain. so can someone please tell me what helps and is safe to take while pregnant?

If there was a school that was opened, where Discipline was actually apart of the strategy, and by discipline I mean the student is sent to the principal or a certified and un-emotionally-involved disciplinarian, for an actual spanking, would you allow your children to go there? what kind of effect do you think there would be to the child and his/her learning, including the classroom environment??

I'm 35 weeks pregnant . . and have been nauseous and haven't been able to eat (for a little over 2 weeks) but and at my last 2 week check-up (on Thurs.) I had gained 7 lbs! (that's 7 lbs. in 2 weeks!) now today is Monday and I have gained 3 lbs. more! I've gained 3lbs in 3 days and I'm literally not eating anything!! My ankles are extremely swollen.. and now my legs are swollen. I called my doctor and he said it's normal .. he said they have been checking my urine at every appt. to make sure I don't have Toxemia (or Preeclamsia) and they tested it 4 days ago and I'm fine. But I'm gaining a pound a day!! Is that normal? Has that happend to anyone else???

I've been 16 for 6 months and had my liscense for 5 months and still have yet to drive ONE place by myself. My parents keep saying things like "the time will come" but I dont think it is! They say all the time how proud of me they are and how responsible I am but I dont know how to get them to let me drive! I drive with them in the car all the time and that still wont convince them and Im getting tired of trying !!!!

Okay so my oldest brother got his girlfriend pregnant and they are both 20....and we r Catholic...his gf is coming to live in our basement since they cant afford anything, is there anything i can do to help her? i dont have any sisters so do you think her and i will become close? this is a huge deal for me and i really need help, its hard and there are so many things that i feel i cant do but WANT to if you've had an ixperience GREAT but if not i could still use your help.....

I have been married for 3 years and we have a 2 year old daughter. Things are going well, we have time and money to do stuff and live a comfortable life. We have an active social life (thanks to the help of reliable babysitters!).

My husband told me yesterday that he would like to have a second child. I am not sure I want to... we have everything going for us right now with just one. I dont want to lose my lifestyle or our freedom but at the same time, I dont want my husband or daughter to miss out on the extra sibling.

Help me decide, one way or the other! Thanks!

I was pregnant with twins when I found out that their hearts weren't beating anymore at 20 weeks. I gave birth to them on May 9th, '07. I think the only thing getting me through this is knowing that we are going to start trying again right away. Does anyone have any advice, suggestions, etc. I'm so worried, but at the same time, everyday that goes by that I'm not pregnant is heartbreaking! Does it take long to get pregnant after giving birth, etc. Any advice will help!

hey i am 14 weeks and have a bump, i usually were size 7 or 9 in juniors but there is not way i can even zip those jeans anymore and anything hugging at least a little around my waist irritates me sooo bad.

I am 19 years old and getting ready for a C-section birth in a few days. I have yet to leak any colostrum and I am worried that I won't produce enough food for my newborn. He is a very big baby who is also breech. Will undergoing a C-section at 39 weeks lessen my chance of being a successful breast-feeder?

I think that in this day and age, parents are afraid to paddle their kids. And it's ridiculous. We (well, most of us) grew up getting a switch to our backside when we deserved it. It wasn't a beating, it was just enough to sting. Like when a kid touches a hot stove and they get their hands burnt. Well they just learned a lesson through pain. You do this, and this happens.

Some people when they talk about corporal punishment, they use words like hit and beat when that IS abuse but NOT corporal punishment. There is a line and as long as it's not crossed....spankings CAN be positve.

I'm watching super nanny right now and it's just...omg has that child ever had their butt spanked? Slapping the mom? Hitting her with a jumping rope? I seriously think if my child swung a jumprope at me in an attempt to hurt me, I would swing it back at them (not hard, but enough to sting) and ask them how it feels.

To spank or not? That's what I want to know, your opinions.

My best friend is pregnant with her first baby (a boy) she is almost 39 week's and has been 1CM dialated for almost 2 week's now.
The doctor told her he HAS dropped.
She had a burst of cleaning energy this past sat,2day she has been having really bad cramp's in her lower pelvis and lower back...is this a sign of early labor???
She is 10 day's away from her due date....we hope he is on his way :)
