I've already given the baby tons of clothing (from my daughter) and i have more I'm going to give her this visit. but i need ideas on a really great gift for my friend and for her baby. something she doesn't have already (which isn't too hard, she doesn't have too much just yet) they can be separate gifts or a gift that they can share. also, the gift(s) need to be around $20 or so (i'm on a budget!) any ideas are greatly appreciated.

My friend has an 8 year old girl as her "sister" in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and needs something free to do with her. She is always wanting to do things that cost money and she wants to do something for free.

Last night from about 6pm til 10pm i had pains as low as where my pubic hair starts. The pain was sharp and gripping made me want to cross my legs til the pain went. It happened 4 times about an hour apart The pain didn't last long about 15 seconds. Nothing since! I'm in the unknown as this is my first. People have said contractions feel like period pains, i never had any pains with my periods so i don't know how they are meant to feel. Any advice would be useful.

My niece is going to be 11 and she is really a horrible reader/writer. Her cousin, who she spends a lot of time with is 12 and is so much more advanced.
Growing up, my mother read to me and I know it made me much better writer. My sister just seems to take no responsibility for her daughter's education. I don't understand. Everytime my niece is over at my place, she and I read together. Even my husband works with her. What do I do?

My daughter is 7. She has a horrible attitude! I tell her to do something and she has a smart remark back. She is always telling her brother and sister what to do. If they don't do what she says, she gets threatning (clenches her teeth, tells them she will hurt them, or yells at them). I tried smacking her face when she got an attitude. I have taken away her allowance because of her attitude. I just don't know what to do. I don't want her to become a bully! How can I curb her attitude so she can be a better person? What do ya'll suggest?

Hi I had my beautiful baby girl 6 days ago, she is absolutlely perfect! But my question is she is eating ALOT, I have been giving her 2 ounces of formula every 2 hours or so, but she is starting to want more. So when she still acts hungry I am fixing her another bottle, which she then takes just a little bit of, and stops. I don't want to leave her hungry (and she'll sceam till she gets that little bit more) but I also don't want to keep wasting all that formula. Do you think it would be ok to add just a little bit more water to the bottle with the 2 oz amount of formula? Or should I just continue with what I have been doing? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

baby girl, 20 months old, not talking, or saying anything that may sound like a word (not even mama, papa, etc)
when somebody tries to show her a word, spell it clearly to her, she just stares at them and then walk away. she is in general very "energetic" and usually doesn't pay attention when people talk to her, or focus on something for more than 2-3 mins.

I have a son of six years old who has started school. I broke up with his father when he was only two years old and since my son was born i had to remind the father to by things for him as if he didn't know that he has to maintain. After we broke up it became worse 'cause even today he does'nt give him a cent. In other words i have been maintaining my son since he was born and so far i am coping so well even though sometimes i just feel that it is unfair for me 'cause it's also his responsibility to maintain the child. I'm now thinking of taking legal steps and take him to court 'cause i never made that child alone, it took two to tango and now he is running away from his responsibilities and the worse part he has another child whom i don't know that he is maintaining. Anyway i'm worried about the future of my son, he's growing and i don't know if I'll cope financial unti he has grown enough to take care of himself. guys do you really think that I'll be unfair if i take him to court?
