I have a few times. You get it in your mail or see it posted on a wall and one of the kids just stand out like you have seen him/her before. But,can't recall where or why....maybe that child resembles a kid from a TV commercial or kid in your own child's class. And it makes you feel....I guess helpless because a picture of a missing child looks familiar...but..you don't know why or how.Making you useless as far as being able to help.Just thought I would ask to see if I was the only one who has done this before.

I separated from my husband because of domestic violance while I was six months pregnant. This happened about three months ago and I am due next month. Can I give my newborn my last name or am I obligated to use his last name?

My almost 9-year-old daughter is getting bombarded with homework. Her teacher makes her read and document everything she has read every night, there's quite a bit of other "odds and ends" type of homework every night and now she has to do a big science project on the human body. I feel that this is way too much for a 3rd grader.

I'm wondering if this much homework is normal for 3rd grade or if my daughter's teacher has gone overboard? My daughter is overwhelmed and quite frankly, so am I. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! :-)

I have a 10 year old step-daughter {Whom I love very much}, I have been in her life since she was 3.My husband and I gained full custody of her when she was 5, everything was great until she turned about 6 or 7 years old and then she started making up stories about me to her dad and just gets real argumentative and real snotty towards me.I am at a loss right now and don't know what to do anymore...Things are getting so bad at home for everyone cause there is constant argueing going on, do to me asking her to do something like her chores, she says no or just ignores me and walks away....Does anyone have any advice?!?

"It's the most fulfilling experience." "It's the most wonderful thing in life." "I won't trade it for anything else." "You'll change your mind when you grow up."

Heard them all. Remember you're talking to a non-father, who has never experienced what you're experiencing.

My daughter will be three in April and all she talks about is school. I researched the only two preschools we have around here. We have headstart and a preschool at the YMCA. We make too much for headstart so my only options are sending her to the Y or not sending her at all. The only thing is the cost. It will cost $125 a month for her to go. Classes are three days a week. I have no experience whatsoever with preschool so I was wondering if this sounded like too much money to pay. Also, is preschool good for kids to attend?

My daughter is tall and athletic, she's also been swimming for as long as she's been walking. But I want her to learn a sport- badminton. Is it too early? She too into dolls and dressing up and everyday theres a prologed battle about, aaaaargh- what to wear. I'm hoping a sport will distract her and show her a world outside of clothes and barbies. But my Q is is it too early for her bones and stuff. I hope she wont get put off all sport forever.

My son just turned 3 in December. We have been trying to potty train for months. I know he is ready. He knows when he needs to potty.

I ask him all the time if he needs to go and he says 'no'. Sometimes I will just set him on the potty and he goes no problem. He loves flushing and doesn't seem to be afraid of the toilet.

He controls it on his own. However when it's time to go, he will go on the floor anywhere in the house BUT the bathroom. I mean literally pulling down his pants and pooing on the furniture, the carpet or just in his pants.

What do I do??

How do you feel about spreading certain responsibilities between the different aged children in the home?
Like my 6 year old son is mostly responsible for cleaning his room, putting his laundry away, taking his laundry down, setting out napkins and placemats for dinner. He goes about being a good little son and hardly whines or complains...
My 12 year old daughter is a major whiner-She will not clean her room unless you threaten to ground her from the computer or going to her friends. She growls and stomps and is such a quiet little angel to everyone else and flies off the handle in private with us and it's like walking on egg shells! I've tried to motivate her to to be involved but she says 'Not right now' all the time! She acts so put out like a horrible spoiled brat and it's like, do I know this kid? (Ugh) Her chores, picking up table, scoop litter box (sometimes), feed/water the cats, clean room and gather dirty and put her clean laundry away. It's not all that hard of a life!

Does it tend to abort the pregnancy? I am thinking of doing a research paper on this topic but I'm not sure if there's any sure thing what might happen. What else could abort the pregnancy early on?
