i'm being induced this monday, and i have a bad cold. i've been on antibiotics for a uti, so i know its not any type of infection, but its a bad head/chest cold. what do they do when you deliver and you have a cold? do you have to wear a mask when with the baby? this is the last thing a newborn needs, this is bad enough for me. what do they do when you have a baby and you're sick??

My kids are four years old now and we have amassed no fewer than 40 stuffed animals (some of them HUGE) and we just don't have the space for them anymore. They are all in good to excellent condition but they have all been gently loved. It seems like a waste the discard them in the trash but I'm not sure what else to do. I would love to donate them to an orphanage or children's shelter or some such but I'm afraid they won't want them because they aren't brand new. Anyone have any suggestions?

My son is 4 and we still have him nap for an hour after school when he is tired. He does not always take one but mostly he sleeps/rests for about an hour. My cousin said this was crazy at his age?! I know he starts all day kindergarten next year so we will be "weening" him soon anyways. What do you think?

My son is 10 days old and Im breast feeding but Ive had to give him bottle aswell as it doesnt fill him up. He's hungry every 3 hours, so he has an hour on my breast, then when it hurts too much I fill him up with a bottle, and he'll drink between 3 and 4 ounces. Is this normal? Why does he need so long on the breast?

If the early detecteion test says you can take it up to 4 days early and you take 5 days early, does that really make a difference in the results?

i have a six week old baby boy, who is already taking 6oz sma gold, every 4 to 5 hours, trouble is he never seems satisfied, ( this is my second child so i do know about babies seeming satisfied after feeds) I would like to know if any mums have given their babes sma white ( for hungrier babies) and if it works, i also thought about putting 3 scoops of gold and 3 scoops of white in each feed has anyone done this???? the reason i am asking is because my midwife recommended i keep him off the sma white for as long as possible as he would have nothing to move onto before weaning him at 6 months, even though i know i will wean him before as i did my daughter at 4 months..

Is there anything they could do to help calm the baby? They were told to put a drop of honey on the soother, but I looked it up and it says that it is not helathy. No, it's not that they aren't feeding her or anything stupid like that.

My daughter is three now and she needs to be potty trained as soon as possible because she should be going into the preschool room at her daycare: no diapers allowed.

We have used a reward system, a potty star chart, and tons of other things. She hides to poop and lies about doing it.

Last week I decided enough is enough and I let he pick out panties and during the day she wears only them. She has been doing really well with peeing in the potty- only 1 accident- but she still poops a tiny bit in every pair of panties I put on her. I put her in a diaper for nap and bed time and she will hold her poop (except for the tiny bit that comes out all the time) until she has a diaper on.

So, what now? What can I do to get her to use the potty. I'm not sure if putting her to bed in panties is a good idea because I don't think she'll wake up to pee and I'm afraid I'll have a tough time cleaning her mattress?

And advice?

My friends 11 year daughter wants to go to a birthday sleepover where they will be showing a PG-13 movie. The movie is DEBS, I saw the movie a while back and I remember there was something inappropriate, but I don't remember what it was! Is the movie inappropriate for an eleven year old? Thanks...

sensitivety anxiety disorder? What steps can be taken with her when you try to teach her something like dressing herself and she cryies and says she can't do it? She gets all upset. Even just telling her to pick up after herself she says she can't remember. Things are repeated over and over but nothing seems to help. I love her dearly and want to do something for this problem.

A Chinese American baby girl born at midnight was disqualified from winning the $25,000 prize because her parents are here illegally.

Instead, the prize went to an American baby. Do you agree with their decision?

My mother wants to get custody of my sisters baby. She is only 16 and had her baby boy a month ago. She doesn't take care of him and leaves him alone in the middle of the night. My mom wakes up to hear him crying. She didn't give him the baby's father's last name or put him on the birth ceritificate. He said he would give up his rights if she wanted him to. The baby has my mothers last name. Where can I find information on this online? I don't know what to look up.

My daughter is almost 4 and has been thru so much, she is othewise normally healthy, with asthma now and finally gotten tubes in her ears, no more ear infections. She at one point was on Megace which is a drug normally given to patients with cancer, to help increase their appetite. It did nothing, she was also on something that was a powder that you added to foods, to increase calories in that food. But nothing there either. She was 20 pounds at 1 and 1/2 years old, and being that she will be 4 in march she is only 28 pounds. Any suggestions as to what can put on her weight would be greatly appreciated. Also she doensnt like avocados, or usually bread (lol) will pick out the lunchmeat of her sandwich almost everytime!! Mostly I think she has mentally put herself on the Atkins diet, loves meats and cheeses butnot a whole lot of fattening things!!! Thanks Any suggestions would be great!
