I posted a question yesterday about this, and I'm wondering if what I am doing is right. Today when I put him down for a nap, he climbed out of his crib. Without making a fuss, I put his mattress on the floor, laid him down and barracaded the door. Of course he didn't stay down, but he did stay in his room and play for hours (he didn't cry or call for me once) --he was exhausted when I initially laid him down, too. He did finally fall asleep on his mattress.
Well, tonight, he wanted nothing to do with his mattress on the floor. I tucked him in--business as usual, but this time he screamed and cried and climbed over the barracaded door (oh my) and came downstairs to find me. So, again, without fuss, I picked him up & took him back to his room, & I put the mattress back into his crib...he was asleep in a matter of minutes. I know in my heart he is not ready for a toddler bed & I'm sure he feels a sense of comfort in his crib, especially at night. *See Additional Details*
