It should be, just make sure you have plenty of ventilation, and double check with your obstetrician beforehand.
Keep in mind, that the smells from the dye could trigger a wave of nausea (morning sickness), or the fumes could burn your eyes even if you don't get any dye in them. You could also have an allergic reaction even if the hair color you are using is the same one you've been using for years.
To be extra safe, do a patch test...the box of hair color should have exact instructions on how to do it, but basically you mix together a few drops of the dye and fixer, and rub it on the skin of your inner arm. If it gets itchy, burns, or has any other bad reaction, you should not dye your hair until after the baby is born.
If there is no bad reaction, go for it!

If you want to carry on your usual routine and have your hair coloured during pregnancy, or colour it yourself, it's best to wait until after the first 12 weeks, as the risk of the chemicals harming the baby is much lower then.
Going to a hairdresser and having your hair coloured by professional is a good move if you're wary of using chemicals yourself and takes some of the worry away.
If you decide to colour your hair yourself at home, you can take a few simple steps to make the process safer:
-Do a strand test first, even if you've used the product many times before. When you're pregnant, you experience all sorts of changes to your hair and it can react very differently to colouring.
-Make sure you don't breathe in too many of the fumes, which can be toxic, by keeping a window open and the room ventilated.
-Wear plastic gloves to avoid the chemicals coming into contact with the skin on your hands.
-Apply the hair dye with a brush or implement provided and try and avoid getting too much of it on your scalp. To help this, you can put olive oil around your hairline and ears to act as a barrier and stop dye from penetrating your skin.
-Leave the hair dye on for the minimum time and then rinse it off thoroughly with water.
-It's worth bearing in mind that highlighting your hair, rather than dyeing it completely, is a good option, as the chemicals are only absorbed by your hair and don't come into contact with your scalp. There are also safe alternatives to chemical dyes, such as henna, which are worth exploring.
I personally coloured my hair twice whilst pregnant (once before I knew, and then once about half way through my pregnancy). I found that my hair did react differently to the dye, but fortunately it worked out well for me and I have not needed to dye my hair since.
I also was quite concerned about the effects hair dye can have on your baby, however did some research and found that there has been no evidence found to suggest that hair dye can harm the fetus, even after extensive studies have been done into it.
Hope this helps, and for more info check out the following web link!

I did mine before i knew i was pregnant non ammonia shouldn't do anything i have been a cosmetologist for a year. I am also pregnant and do them all the time but i would wait until the second trimester to be on the safe side. It depends on if it makes you sick some people cant be around the smell. See if it bothers you if not give it a try.

If you don't have color on your hair already, you can use a henna--it's an herbal hair color. Your local health food store should have them or recommend something else. Some hair dyes don't have ammonia in them. You can always check the box.

I colored my hair the whole time i was pregnant and most people i know did too. As long as your not breathing in the smell of the coloring really bad it should be fine. I don't think its unsafe, ask your doc to be sure if you still need some reasurance.

You can use all sorts of hair dye and it is perfectly safe. It will not harm your baby. However there is a high risk that the color will not come out right due to your horomones.

yes however from personnal experience... the chemicalchange in your body can chage the color you are dying.. for instance I was going strawberry blonde as I used to do all the time it turned sh*t brown and just an all around gross color... I cried.. so be careful what you color it to and be prepared for the worst... I found herbal essance or nutrisse worked best though... less freaky colors
