Pregnancy & Parenting - 26 November 2006

Me, my husband, and our four month old live in a duplex. We just had some neighbors move in to the unit next to us who smoke. They are not allowed to smoke in the home only outside away from it. I am worried they smoke inside. From my expirience most people who smoke do not understand how negative the effects of it can be so they smoke whereever reguardless. I have never smelled smoke in our home before. If they are smoking inside could the toxins still travel through the walls even though I dont smell the smoke? I am just concerned about my little boy. What do you think?

i am 20 weeks along and today i have had really bad pains in my lower abdomen and back. It hurts so bad at times that i cant stand up straight, but then it will kinda go away. I can still feel the baby move though so i know its still alive! am i being paronoid or has anyone felt this too?

I gave birth two weeks ago. As this is my first baby I am not sure as to how recovery is supposed to go, so please don't judge me. First question: Anyone have a catheter when they delivered and later got an infection because of it? If so what were your symptoms and how did you get over it? After delivering everything down there hurt so I wasn't sure what the pain was from. Aftering using a mirror I realized that my urethra is really swollen- like the size of one of those rubber balls that come out of a kids quarter machine. Is this normal? Second question- two weeks out how heavy should the bleeding be and should there be any foul odor at all? I still notice little gushes of bright red blood in the toilet when I go to the bathroom and I am still using maxi pads. Also I notice that there is kind of an odor that is different then menstrual blood. Third question: I had a 2nd degree episiotomy. How long does it take for the stitches to dissolve and how long after delivery did you have sex

and my periods were 28 days when I wasn't trying and now that we are trying they are off by 2 or 3 days every cycle.Oct was 29 days Oct 27 then Nov 30 days.I always was to the minute and I knew when I was getting it.I also have the worst period cramps ever and they started on Friday but I didn't get it till this morning (day 30!!!) but it is light.I just don't get it.
I also had intercourse every 2nd day during my fertile window but I don't understand why I am not pregnant.Should I be making an appointment with my doctor??? I have read 3 books so I am starting to feel silly. Help!!

I know it isn't safe to use a hot tub while in the first trimester of pregnancy, but how unsafe is it? Should I be concerned if I've already been in a hot tub? I do know that the temps were over 101 but I was only in twice, once for about 45 min and another time for about 35 min. 1st pregnancy and no family history of miscarriages or defects...not a smoker or drinker either...thanks!

My baby is a month and a week old and her stool is now brown and not yellow and seedy anymore. Is this normal? She has been backed up twice now for days and days and the doctor recommended Karo syrup. I just wanted to make sure that her stool should be brown and not yellow.

I am 18 weeks pregnant and have been waiting to feel the "flutters" . I was laying down earlier and thought I felt movement, but not like everyone is describing as flutters and bubbles popping etc..., but just like something moving around. Do you have to feel the flutters before actual movement, or could I just have never realized them before?

how can I help him. I have a pretty stupid question... but everything I heard has been against it. I am overweight.... I have a figure though, but nonetheless- I'm 211 prepregnancy and 5'7". This is my first pregnancy. My son just turned 6 months old today. When he was born he weighed 7lb 7oz (pretty normal), but since then he has grown sooo much! He now weighs 21 lbs and is 27 inches long. He's not fat at all. He's really just right for his height....but he is just so big! He wears 12 month old clothes! Are there any health concerns for a really big baby? I don't know why he is so big! I'm a small person, and my husband is tall now, but he wasn't an abnormally large child.
