This one is still undecided. Most doctors, though, agree that abstaining is the best bet because no one knows exactly how much acohol will cause Fetal Alcohol Syndrom (FAS). Check out these two views and make the decision for yourself.

The answer is no amount of alcohol is considered safe. It can cause fetal alcohol syndrom. Unfortunately there is no way to know if even one drink would cause the problems or not. It is at all stages of pregnancy. Anything you eat or drink is passed on to the baby.

depends on who you talk to really. i had (and still) have occasional drinks while pregnant. i don't drink to get buzzed, i drink red wine to go with my steaks. because it tastes good. My oldest is just fine. so it my youngest. I have told all my doctor's exactly how much i drink. nothing is wrong with either of my children.
I am under the personal belief that if anyone says they had only one beer or one glass of wine during pregnancy and their child came out with FAS they are a LIAR about how much they drank. not including whatever else drugs they took and lied about.
i have about 2 glasses of wine every month or so. sometimes not even the whole glass. because i am a firm believer in having wine with my steaks, i even stopped eating steak just because it doesn't seem right.
yes most doctors will tell you you need to stop drinking entirely, because they know 90% percent of woman will take that as a go ahead to drink and jus lie about how much. I had my chidren's peditrician pass me a mixed drink at a house party of hers and everyone there KNEW i was pregnant. she said i was fine. this is the same peditrician that is still my son's doctor. one doctor of mine suggested a beer a day for milk supply, but i didn't like beer back then.
moderation is the key. never drink on an empty stomache and i still would stay away from hard mixed drinks and keep it simple like one beer or one glass of wine. if you are drinking to get a buzz...you may have bigger problems and shouldn't be drinking at all.

alcohol is ABSOLUTELY out of the question during pregnancy!!! Why would you even risk harming your baby, just so you could have a drink of alcohol?

I have heard that the occasional glass of wine will not hurt the baby, other forms of alcohol could be harmful...I'd say just stay away from it until you have the baby...ask your doctor for more info. Good luck!

Drinking early pregnancy can cause fetal alcohol syndrome which can make them retarded and all sorts of different things. They say there's no known safe amount of alcohol so you should just avoid it altogether.

you realize what, you're incorrect! you're no longer a to blame man or woman! I don;t understand the place you found out duty yet you decide on a clean instructor. first of all for asserting which you have been going to kill your unborn infant for the reason which you weren't waiting to stop the relaxing and video games! it particularly is finished irresponsibility!!! 2d for figuring out at 12 weeks to have an abortion. At 12 weeks your infant is already formed, maximum places won't even do them after 12 weeks! (watch the video Silent Screams on youtube) then you definitely drank alcohol on authentic of that. in case you're prepared to have intercourse and take the possibility of having pregnant, you bigger by god be waiting to provide up the relaxing and video games in case you do take place to conceive a baby. you're far from to blame in my eyes and as far as being a solid mom, I specific as hell am happy you're no longer mine! i desire as quickly as the baby is born you're no longer as "to blame" as you're actually!! I pray to God that your infant is okay! Which i'm specific it particularly is, it particularly is persevering with to drink for the period of a being pregnant that harms a fetus. attempt to be attending to the Dr and getting some prenatal care!

please don't think about yourself, can't you handle not to drink while pregnant. The baby will get fetal alcohol syndrome, and when I say will I mean WILL GET IT. ALL STAGES. Think about the baby, not yourself. I would have an abortion if you need a drink, you wouldn't want a baby that you will have to take care for the rest of you life, because he or she will be in a wheelchair.

It is unlikely that a glass of wine once in a while will harm your baby. It is down to you. I asked my doctor about this, and he said that he wouldn't recommend getting drunk, but a small glass amount at xmas time would be ok.
