how can you have it both ways. do americans have shorter life spans because of the food we eat "supersize me" or because of our health care system "sicko"? \
this is to say nothing of the real reasons that we have a more diverse makeup of people in this country and different races need different treatments at times.

I was wondering why suddenly our country now uses terms like "Patriot Act", "Homeland Security" etc.., and does so at a time when we seem to be in period of perpetual war (war on terror), and a period when we seemingly approve of torture, warrantless surveillance, denial of habeus corpus, extreme exectutive privilege, and impenetrable government secrecy....while at same time the economic playing field is such that we have record high gas prices, and record budget deficits, record trade deficits, and record foreclosures. What is happening? Sometimes feels like I am watching early 1930's film clips.

Some in Congress are saying we should leave Iraq now because The Iraq goverment has not met dead lines. well should they be talking about progress. If I remember right the Liberals said they were in power now so things are going to change. The only change I have seen is the lower paid workers got a raise but have to wait three years to get the total raise where Cingress got a raise without waiting &they will get a 4.4 raise every year no matter what the inflation rate is. Outside of that NOTHING but hearings & mud slinging. I guess because it worked for the Republicans in "98 &99" the Democrats think it will work in "07 &08" for them. I got news for them. The people put them in office to do something not just talk about it. They have had enough promises & now it is time for action.Dont you want action not just words??

Why is it that every time someone questions Bush's policies etc…. Cons just say well Clinton did this and that etc…why can't cons answer a question about Bush with out mentioning the Clintons? Why can't they just address the issues at hand?

Which is worse cheating on your spouse, (which by the way is a personal matter and had no bearing on the well being of the citizens of the USA) or lying to the American people in order to perpetrate a lie, that eventually has gotten 3000 plus soldiers killed and countless more severely injured?

I am not one to judge someone how has for one reason or another fallen upon hard times and needs to get public assistant until the get up on their feet. However, I am sick and tired of seeing people who abuse the system, why hasn't the welfare system been changed so that unnecessary items can't be bought with foodstamps. I am so tired of going to the store and seeing people buy cokes, steaks, candy, chips and other junk with my tax dollars. I have even seen them buy a decorated cake from the bakery using foodstamps. It isn't right when a fully capable person chooses not to work and we end up having to support them for the rest of their lives. Why isn't there a cap on benefits recieved, or if a person gets pregnant while on welfare there not be a change in the benefits that they recieve?

Liberal and Neo conservative alike seem to block users frequently, not allow email or im, and report people who answers there questions in the same frame of mind that they asked. Honestly, I am not asking for us to get along or anything; but why do the trolls think they are tough by blabbing something for 5- 10 questions in a row, getting another yahoo ID deleted ,and then starting all over again?
I don't know I guess I just would like to see some real thought out political questions that actually spark debate and not an elementary school name calling contest.

Do you think that problems like WAR, Terrorism, Church & State, Environment, and Violence in schools could all be taken care of much more easily if people just stopped having babies for a minute?

Could we all just decide to go 1 year without having babies and that would take care of most of the problems?

I think so.

I am tired of nearly all of them being Corporate puppets battling each other to be in the lead!

Perhaps it's time we the people issue an ultimatum?!?!

everyone continued to live tribally. Much like the native americans (north and south), africans and parts of asia before they were occupied and technology started to flourish. That's not to say all technology would be gone (native americans did have irrigation systems etc.)

I see many pros and cons.

Pros - Less war. Respect for nature. No more overpopulation (due to lack of modern medicine, but as a bonus over several thousands of years the human race becomes stronger on whole as only the strongest survive). Ignorance is bliss, simple things in life would bring happiness. Very little greed, and rules were decided by elder councils (usually).

Cons - Isolation. No common languages. Early death. Lack of control of our environment in a lot of cases so less security.

It is beyond the scope of my imagination even in the darkest corners of my mind and understanding as to why ANY american would still support GWB. Even those who have befitted from his greedy policies. Its so obvious at this point that he is hurting our country that the short term benefit by big corporations is minimal to the long term damage. What kind of subhuman would follow him even after falling into the pit?

It's still the same war and same cause but people seem to have forgotten why we are in this in the first place. On 9/12/2001 99% of americans wanted heads on a stick and gift wrapped up in a flag but today the attitude has changed and people seem to have gotten over being attacked in the first place. Some use the price of oil as an excuse.the fact of the matter is that most families today own 2 cars.1 normal sized and an suv or truck.America is pumping 3-4 times the amount at the pumps than they were 10-15 years ago.China has also put a strain on supplies and some countries are being stingy and not trading what reserves they have.Don't blame Bush and his war everytime you go to the pump to fuel up.Every nation is paying dearly with the exception of those who control the markets.

First off, let me just say I am neither party-affiliated nor a left/right wing nut. I have observed that the liberal philosophy seems to be the process of extending rights and protections to people (and animals) on the basis of morality. It is immoral to discriminate against race or sexuality. It is also immoral, some say, to eat meat. There are also protections in place for the environment at large. There are laws protecting the air and the soil. Most of this work has been done by liberals, and I applaud this.

Why is it considered backward or unscientific to wish to protect the rights of the unborn?

I understand there is some controversy over where life begins and ends, that's not the point. But since there are already laws on the books protecting a child in the third trimester, it is not strictly a privacy issue.

On the surface it would seem to be a "liberal" issue, but it is not. Why are the unborn seen as less worthy of protection than our dirt?
