Would they start to represent that majority opinion.
Would they last long in office if they ignored it.
In other words, can direct democracy be a working model for government.
It seems to work for the Swiss.

Is this the craziest thing you have heard of in hours or since Bush seems to have a cloaking device that covers everyone he has had a conversation with or any of his appointees over the last 7 years . http://www.bet.com/News/NWORDFUNERAL.htm?wbc_purpose=Basic&WBCMODE=PresentationUnpublished

If you've never taken the time to read questions AND answers in the politics section, do so - it'll open your eyes. There are a lot of angry people, doing nothing more than insulting people and placing blame on others for the world's problems. I think it would be a great idea if Y/A allowed you to flag users who complain about political issues but don't bother to ask for or present a solution. You get flagged more than a few times & you can't ask, or participate in any more questions in that particular category - because you've already proven you're not looking to solve anything, only to cause trouble.
We make ourselves look bad when we're divided on a lot of issues, and working together to come up with a solution could be a wonderful way for citizens to get involved. We could all make a difference, how great would that be?
Don't you think we'd see our politicians ignoring our wishes a lot LESS if we were all united instead of being so easily divided on EVERYTHING? Just a thought

She told the truth about Bush and Iraq.

She has stood up to the right wing bullies that hate her for exposing their cowardice.

She actually TRIES to serve her country.

Is it knee-jerk misogyny, or just plain reaction to the fact that some people actually stand up for their country, much to the dismay of the far right?

Republican Conservatives screamed holy hell when it was leaked that President Clinton had an affair... which incidentally is not against the law or his oath of office. Now that Republican Senator David Vitter has ADMITTED to frequenting a D.C. area Madam... which incidentally IS against the law... should Democrats scream and call for his resignation?

Why is it totally unacceptable for one man to have a moment of marital infidelity but perfectly acceptable for another to visit is house of prostitution because he's "made peace with his wife"? Isn't this just the sort of double-standard conservatives thrive on?

Giuliani, Gingrich, Foley and now Vitter. All involved one way or another in a sexual scandal yet you people say nothing. But the moment Clinton drops trow you all line up, stones in hand, ready to cast him out from society.

Hypocrites... all of you!

about the cause of global warming?

From my last question. The only answers I got were that virtually all scientists in the field agree with the statement that humans are contributing to global warming through increased greenhouse gas emissions. Where are the links supporting the doubters claims?

How do you think Anti-War Activist Cincy Sheehan would react if John Ellis "Jeb" Bush became the President of the United States of America in 2008?

If Jeb Bush did become President in 2008, I think that Sheehan would call for Jeb Bush impeachment eventhough he is not George Walker Bush.

I must admit, based on the answers to MOST questions I've seen on Y/A, I was beginning to think ALL liberals were what some conservatives lovingly refer to as moonbats. Instead of promoting healthy debate, all I really saw was people insulting each other, or avoiding the question. I recently posted a question on global warming to which I expected some mean answers, given the fact that I was annoyed when I wrote it & was making a generalization which I've said myself is never good.
Based on the answers I received I now know there are some RATIONAL, LOGICAL liberals out there & I'm very happy to have been wrong!! I have to say that I'm not a liberal, I don't agree that global warming is everything it's been made out to be, although I'm sure there's SOME truth behind all the hype. I was just raised that we shouldn't waste things, my parents just wanted us to be conscientious about our decisions. Again, sorry & thanks for helping me see that not everyone is as extreme as I once thought.

If you were in attendance at a professional baseball game and the announcer at the ballgame said "Tonight's Ceremonial First Pitch is given by the President George W. Bush." What would you do and/or how would you react to see the President of the United States of America?

If President Bush gave the ceremonial first pitch at a professional baseball game, I would stand up and salute the President for his military service to our country and say "You're An Awesome Man George and keep up the Good Work."

I thought that the "saviors" who won in the mid-term elections were going to rid our government of all evil and bring us a Shangra-la. How much longer before they deliver the promises? Or, what is just a ruse to get elected?
