I must admit, based on the answers to MOST questions I've seen on Y/A, I was beginning to think ALL liberals were what some conservatives lovingly refer to as moonbats. Instead of promoting healthy debate, all I really saw was people insulting each other, or avoiding the question. I recently posted a question on global warming to which I expected some mean answers, given the fact that I was annoyed when I wrote it & was making a generalization which I've said myself is never good.
Based on the answers I received I now know there are some RATIONAL, LOGICAL liberals out there & I'm very happy to have been wrong!! I have to say that I'm not a liberal, I don't agree that global warming is everything it's been made out to be, although I'm sure there's SOME truth behind all the hype. I was just raised that we shouldn't waste things, my parents just wanted us to be conscientious about our decisions. Again, sorry & thanks for helping me see that not everyone is as extreme as I once thought.

I'm not being a traitor to my political party, I'm just starting to think a lot more people are somewhere in the middle on a lot of isses, instead of at one extreme left or right as the media would have you believe. I think if more of us would recognize this and try to encourage a healthy debate instead of insulting or avoiding questions when asked, we'd be a much more united country. Sometimes I think the world laughs at us when we so easily turn on each other. United we stand, divided we fall. God Bless America

Thats awesome! (he says...beckoning her even further towards the middle)
I have found over time that neither "side" really represents my political or spiritual beliefs very well. A more centrist view feels right to me. Too bad I dont have a political party :(
In the past, I have been guilty of being one of the "insulting" types. I have now adopted the stance of trying to express a logical statement with the idea of trying to generate consensus as to possible solutions to today's problems. It doesnt always feel great getting the "thumbs down" from going against strong rhetoric, but if I can help just one person move closer towards rational debate and away from vitriol, its worth it.
Sometimes too, good people can find themselves stooping to levels of their opponant out of frustration.
If we can work together, we can get a lot more accompished.

I agree with you...there are some Liberals out there that actually think out their responses and are not into name calling...but it is hard not to just generalize with all the "Trolls" that post under 15,000 different names asking the same questions over and over again...but we have "Conservative" trolls that do the same thing...but in all the questions I have asked, I do get some good answers from the Liberals, but there are always the crazies...=)
Unfortunate for us that is what the Far Left and Far Right want...they want us to hate each other...because without hate and fear Americans will see they have nothing to really offer us...I dislike "Bible Beaters" as much as I dislike "Tree Huggers"...I am a Equal Opportunity Dis-liker...lol

Apology accepted, and thank you for being open minded to our arguments.
If people would just ignore the political and religious rhetoric, and just do what they believe in their own minds and hearts is right, the world would be a better place.
Slowly but surely, people are starting to do so, so I have hope for humanity yet.
And yes, God bless America!!!

You've awakened to the fake left/right paradigm!!! Welcome to the club!!
As more and more awake to this realization, change might actually be possible.
Everyone is sick of not feeling represented and tired of nothing ever getting accomplished.
The momentum is building, keep waking up America!!

most of the time -
if you ask an honest question you will get honest answers.
but, many people ask pseudo questions that are really just political rants, they do this because they like the angry responses they get.
every now and then you will get a grumpy person who has not realized you are in fact sincere.

I'm not a "liberal" and you are 100% correct. Most people are somewhere in the middle on most issues.

Never apologize to a liberal. They will still think you wrong, still hate you, and it will get you no where
