My man just left for his Army training. He won't be home until Feburary. He's in the Reserves and is Military Police. I'm a little worried about deployment though. I don't know the chances of him being deployed and how soon. He was told that it isn't a matter of "if" but a matter of "when". But I'm stressing over how soon when is. I mean, will it be a few months, a couple years? I hate living with these questions.

Does anyone have expierence with this and can let me know what I might be in store for in the future?

I am 19 and plan on joining the Navy. Question is, does the Navy have an Aerial Gunner position like the Airforce, you know riding in a SH-60 Seahawk hanging out the door with an M60 or Mini-Gun or something similar? I was really interested in this Job. If not i still plan on joining and being a Master at Arms, K9 officer or Ordanceman.

Brian Williams, anchor for NBC News, is on the Board of Directors for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. Last year, he was scheduled to be the Master of Ceremonies for a dinner that was attended by, and honoring, over 100 living recipients of the MoH.
Williams announced at the beginning of the dinner that he needed to leave because he had pressing business in New York.
What was the pressing business? A family engagement, a big news story, an emergency?

Williams had a ONE MINUTE CAMEO on "Saturday Night Live"!!

Is this the example he should set for others? Is this any way to treat the 100+ men in attendance that had risked their lives for the love of their country?

Can anyone provide a valid excuse why an appearance on SNL is more important than the Medal of Honor??

A friend was recently medically retired from the Navy. 100% disabled by both the VA and Navy. He has brain cancer. He was a nuke tech on a submarine. So near occupational exposure to radiation all the time. Who knows how he got brain cancer but its kind questionable to me.
Well he got a bill from the navy for his re-enlistment bonus today. For all of it not just part. He served two years of his re-einlistment 2 left.
He didnt choose to leave the navy he would still be there if he could.
Does he really have to pay it back is there anything he can do he has no money. His bills add up to more than his monthly VA allowance.

I'm a smart young individual. In high-school I averaged 3.7 GPA, and I placed reasonably high on your SAT. I decided to take a year off before going back into school. I've already decided on either STRUCTURAL OR SYSTEMS ENGINEERING. Recently the Army's benefits caught my eye, but I think the Air Force would be more beneficial to me.

I plan on finishing up with an associate's next year.
(And then pursuing college after my 3-4 Year service)

Basically:
Which Branch offers more money for college???
Which branch offers better benefits for also holding an associates degree?
(I mean would I come in as an officer?)
Which branch would pertain better to my fields after college?

We toppled the Iraq army in a matter of hours. Would that happen with Iran, or are they more capable of handling a US-led invasion?

No politics please. Just facts.

My son is in the Marines. My husband and I are very proud of our son. Here's my problem. Last winter, while my son was home for a layover, we went to a family funeral for an Aunt. I asked my son to wear his dress blues, in honor of both my Aunt and my uncle (they love and honor anyone who serves). Anyway, while there, a few of my 2nd cousins blitzed my son saying that only losers join the military, how stupid the war is, etc., etc. My son took the high road as this was neither the time nor the place to get into a political discussion and simply turned and walked away. These 2 girls are both in their mid 20's, are highly educated, but have severe "Princess" syndrome. We have a family reunion coming up, and I want to blast these two young ladies if they bring this up again. I want to enlighten them and make them feel bad at the same time. I'm having trouble coming up with what to say. I want to put these two in their place, but don't want to stoop to their level. What to say?
