Only you can decide if it is important enough to go into the service. It is a very personal choice. I don't recommend not following your dreams because of other people. In this lifetime, you must do the things that will make you happy. The military can be very rewarding! Ultimately, the choices you make need to be for yourself, and not for others. Do you have a strong relationship with your girlfriend? If so, hopefully she can adapt to the life of a military girlfriend/wife. It is difficult, but it is worth it. You need to decide if you think that you will be happy in life if you stay where you are. If you believe that your true calling is in the service, then I would say go for it. Best of luck to you with whatever you decide!

With triumph comes sacrifice.
You need to find out if your girl friend will wait for you because truthfully that is the only thing holding you back. You family will always be there and college (trust me) is not going anywhere.
You could die tomorrow so you cant use that as an excuse. when it is your time it is your time.
You should try the air force though they trea their enlistees much better. But if the army is what you want then go for it. remember snipers have to have better than perfect vision. But you can always try.

Never mind your life as you know it now. How about your physcial condition? You better start practicing now even before you get in. While you are practicing, start wearing combat boots and a backpack weighing 75 lbs going up inclines. Do you think this is going to piece of cake? It will not be easy and they have a lot of dropouts. You better talk to your recruiter a little more or talk to some veterans.

1. The possibility of death exists everywhere
2. At some point in the future you will have to leave behind your college courses, friends, family and girlfriend to go after whatever it is you desire to do with your life. It is to be expected as a part of life in general
3. Either you want to do this or you don't want to do this, nothing I can say will motivate you if you are not motivated to do this. You got the drive, you have to have the fire in your belly if you want a sniper or paratrooper. If not you're just a wannabee, so it's all left up to you. Are you going to talk or are you going to walk???

Many people have wants, but the Military are very choosy about who they grade for SNIPER or as a PARATROOPER, if you are up to their standards you might have a chance.
You have no idea where you will be travelling as the US Army dont do all over the world.
And you have to get past your medical and basic training first.

You're in college and you spell like that? Better stay in college. The ability to effectively communicate is one of the bigger talents the military looks for.

You know, every person that enters the military has to do it by his/her own decision. You should never rely on what others say to make a choice that can and will change your life forever. I am proud of anyone and everyone who chooses to serve their country, but it is ultimately YOUR decision.

It's not a good idea if the only reason you want to go is to get college funding. If you truly want to serve your country, weigh the negatives against that.
