I am set to process at MEPS on Monday-Tuesday for enlistment into the Air Force. My recruiter has told me that I will pick 5 jobs that I am interested in and then the Air Force will tell me what job I get come december. Is this true? Is there anyway to get it guranteed in my enlistment contract? I don't think that choosing from five jobs is good enough. I should get my job guranteed.

The reason i'm asking is I am 34 years old, I tried to join the Military when I was 18 (Army and Marines) but I was declined
because I had a GED Instead of a HS deploma . I never lost the desire to join.and serve my country but i think I am too old to be drafted and I still just have a GED. Any one with insight.

Yes another SAS question...
So would a former member of the Regiment come on here and answer questions or are they miserious gods that go of to secret wars that you will never know about or become bodyguards cos they're invincible or do they become ex soldiers and just get on with life, Kids and the Wife.
Sorry to rain on your parade but SAS Soldiers are around you can you spot them is it him or him normally is the bloke you would have never thought.....
They meld back into society boring but true......Highly trained but they will kick it on the boards with everyone else......
So is Violator a Sh!tter or real you Decide?

I have a criminal record and a GED. I've spoken to navy recruiters and I will need a bunch of wavers to join even though I got a 96 on the ASVAB. I recently heard that the army is offering large bonuses because re-enlistment is down. Does that mean that it is easier to get in?

We've heard millions of reasons why we went. The Bush administration had an agenda to go in even before he was president, yet people still support it. Why? What did Iraq do to us? If we are fighting the "war on terrorism," why aren't we everywhere? There are more terrorist in the world than just Iraq. There are more there now than before the U.S. invasion. Is it that the far-right goes with whatever Bush says? 9/11 wasn't hoped for by him, but it was a good reason to go to Iraq. I think Cheney said, "hey George you wanted to go to Iraq, why not start in Afghanistan then go?" "We can get support from the country because we have it with Afgan war." Bush already said that the next president will have to get the U.S. out. Red flag? Is he admitting a mistake? And for the war supporters, why aren't you helping fight for Iraq's freedom? Because that is what you will be fighting for. The best thing about '08? Bush can't run and Cheney doesn't want to. Thank God. Anybody but Bush.

Has any one heard the news report that the Army/Marines have been told not to release the names of Female members who are KIA in the war. A freind of my mothers in Lousiana, had her oldest girl,23,killed in action last December. She was in the Army and was an MP. She and two other males were ambushed. They were taken out by the killers and the males were shot down. When they found out she was a woman. They shot her a number of times in the body and hung her up by her feet and tryied to burn her body.

As I am studying the Battle of Hong Kong,I have come to the conclusion that there was not enough troops, the Shing Mun Redoubt was a piece of stupidity,12 Acres for a trench line is not enough for defending Kowloon and as well sending unexperienced fighting units mean death as well. This really shows flaws of errors made during the battle. To be honest i believe most units at that time were not ready for house to house or street fights. For the Battle of Hong Kong to be in the favour of the Allies,I believe more troops would be needed and a effective line of supply and also naval units and air force as well.A Army without sufficent equipment is bound to lose

I was listening to Herman Cain Show, August 11, on News Talk 750 WSB, and he said something about the American Solder. Although I can't remember all of it. He said something like: the American Solder fights under the Flag, for the Flag, and by the Flag... and whose coffin is draped under the Flag.... I'm not sure what else he said... or in what order. But it was something that made me proud of our Military. It was something worth writing down to remember and share with others. So if anyone knows what he said would you please let me know? Thanks!
