Back in the Vietnam War, they spit out the enemy casualty count all the time. But it was found to be an ineffective way to gauge the course of that war. Therefore, the military decided against it, as they felt it misled the public into thinking we were "winning."
However, as stated in the article below, the military is using that option again.

I don't know what station you are listening to but whenever we strike the insurgents I get numbers on how many were killed. Maybe you should start listening to NPR more instead of watching privately owned media (it is all about making a buck their).

Its simply the fact our media is based on our soldiers and not their casualties. In the future there will be stories about it. The soldiers are no doubt killing them without issues.

they lost count after we beat their army into the ground in under a month. insurgents seem to have this habit of blowing them selves up to that or car bombs. but either way there is no real benifit to reporting how many we kill since more will just show up to take thier place.

They are reported every day, and more often than our dead troops are! Civilians are only reported if 30 or more are wasted.
Perhaps along with insurgents (usually Iraqi's), we should also put up those we killed that are civilians!

Too many to clearly tell, and if they told you about the actual "bad guys" they'd have to tell you about the thousands of innocent people who are murdered daily by every side in this god awful mess

Apparently there is not a significant amount being killed by us...
Or maybe the amount of enemies we kill is irrevelent, since that is what we're there to do.
