Has any one heard the news report that the Army/Marines have been told not to release the names of Female members who are KIA in the war. A freind of my mothers in Lousiana, had her oldest girl,23,killed in action last December. She was in the Army and was an MP. She and two other males were ambushed. They were taken out by the killers and the males were shot down. When they found out she was a woman. They shot her a number of times in the body and hung her up by her feet and tryied to burn her body.

The Department of Defense makes press releases on all deaths which occur for personnel in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. They do so whether the death is due to combat-related causes or not. The press release contains the rank of the individual, the name of the individual, the unit assigned, the place of death, and the hometown of the individual. Those press releases which contain the personal information are only made after the next of kin has been notified.
I have been keeping up with the casualty count since the initial military operation in Afghanistan. I cannot recall any member killed in action who had his or her gender hidden in the press release.

Haven't heard that and seriously doubt it. I still see females listed among the dead in the Army Times and elsewhere. I think there'd be a greater outcry over suppression of casualty information than over the fact that some are female or that corpses are mutilated.

They don't really release the sexes of soldiers killed. Mainly because the public responds so negatively to the idea that women are injured and/or killed. Something about knowing that really turns the public's stomach.

If I'm to understand correctly they should just continue the lies as they have so far in order to not turn the Publics stomachs.

Is that correct as to where you stand?
