I've had this ingrown toenail for the past three weeks, and I swear I'm ready to chop the damned thing off.

I mean, I probably won't, but if things took a turn for the worst, would they still let me in?

No. Missing any portion or all of any toes, except pinky and ring toes is disqualifying.
If you are missing your big toe, you would also loose a major part of your balance. You would not be able to stand on just that foot and balance yourself, another reason for disqual.
Get the toenail completely removed if you have to. Missing a nail is not grounds for disqual.

Honey, from the stories I've been reading, they'll take you missing yer HEAD, much less yer toe. They're getting desperate.

Current absence of a foot or any portion thereof is disqualifying for enlistment or appointment.
