seriously, it seems the movies of government lies and deceptions are almonst sugar-coated when compared to whats going on in the real world. I want to join the military but would never in my right mind put my life on the line for a familys wealth and possession of oil, I want to to join to help in the growth of america and what we are doing is clearly putting us in the corner of the room facing the wall with no friends

Like the Coast Guard. They are different from the Navy because they are not based on combat. What other groups or branches are there like this?

My husband deployes in Sept. and I wasn't all that concerned until just recently when I looked at he calendar. I have been to some FRG meetings but I'm not sure if they would actually give me the support that I need. I'm not living near the Army Base that he is stationed at. Are there any outside resource that are available? This is his first deployment and he will be going to afgan. I don't hear that much about afgan on the news and don't know why which makes me worried.

I've been struggling with alcohol for a long long time. I've always relapsed after doing good for a while and always go back to drinking. I'll be leaving for basic in 3 weeks and I feel that this will be the answer that I need to become that better person I so desperately want to be. I'm hoping that the 5 months of training (basic&AIT) will help me get a clearer vision of who I am and where I want to go in life. Others are rooting for me and I guess I just want to know what anyone thinks about my theory.............please no ridiculous answers I just had a bad experience Friday in which I got robbed as I layed out in my living room floor passed out from a drunken binge...Im really down on myself right now and I guess just looking for support thanks......

Why does USA engage only in conflicts where they benefit from something? Like oil in Iraq or cocaine in Afghanistan, for example. They were only nation who earned at World War 2 by selling equipment, supplies and food for Alied forces. They earn money while someone else is suffering. I infere from all this, that it`s gainful for USA when other nations are at war.

Even more, they`re calling themselves "peacemakers"!!!

Was in extraction unit, and "now" on 214 info has been deleted which was on my original one. Is this normally done by the military to persons who served in special units ?

I know that there are limited slots for combat pilots and they only take the best of the best, and that it's VERY competitive. I'm interested in becoming a pilot, and the one thing I've always wanted to do is fly flighter jets. I'm not interested in a lecture about how "you still have a lot of time to decide about this" or "you have to understand what kind of dangerous position you could be putting yourself into". Obviously I understand what kind of risk this involves. Now here are the real questions I have:

I know that the Air Force is a difficult branch to be accepted into. Would my chances of becoming a combat pilot be higher if I did ROTC right out of high school? Or would they be higher if I went to a prestigous university and then applied?

Currently (I'm only in middle school so this could change) so they really consider women to fly fighter jets and do combat missions? If so, about how many women are there right now.
