regarding whether anyone else has had info "deleted" on unit you were in and if you have had to prove who you are by affidavit to obtain a replacement 214 ? Was in extraction unit, and "now" on 214 info has been deleted which was on my original one. Is this normally done by the military to persons who served in special units ?

Wayne - Have no problem with benefits or recognition of my service what I don't get is this "switch" of my records to Washington and deleting info of a unit(s) which later came under question for having been formed during Vietnam in the Corps by the senate/congress. I had heard "offical denial" was labeled of my unit, and couldn't believe my unit training was deleted from the 214.

I am guessing you did not have the original filed with a county recorder.

I would not worry about it. That space is only for the last unit you were in. Don't see how that would affect your status with the VA.

My Dads from WWII used the unit he was in the longest even though he got transferred twice after the end of the war. Never caused him a problem.

You can request your full jacket too. That would have copies of all transfers, EER's, promotions etc. If your eligible for something special for some reason proof of that should be in there as well.

I did a few years in the reserve so my last promotion and 1 medal are not on the old dd214. Still not a problem getting services.

Hope that helps.

Edit: So I guess you did not have the original recorded with a county recorder someplace? You might want to request a full copy of the jacket and see if there is a big blank in time in all your orders. Not sure if the Freedom of Info Act would do you any good. I have never met anyone that was involved in military spooky stuff. That happened much later as a civilian doing a consulting gig with the FBI. Both groups have their secrets. Good luck!!

Might just be the admin types messing around. They can change any thing they want with those records when they pull them up.

Sounds like someone is being a jerk to me.
Find them and pull off their lips and stick them to the wall.
