If you had joined the military, you might understand what is really going on over there instead of buying all the propaganda you hear.

Only so everyone will stop making such a big deal out of the 2008 elections. I also can't wait so people will realize that it's not going to matter who is in office, things for the most part will still be the same. Just like before the midterms when everyone was acting like things were gonna miraculously change for the better, and nothing has changed. Be smart, don't set yourself up for a dissappointment

Over 80% of Iraqi oil exports are under contract to Compagnie Petrol De Francais. That's a French oil firm. Afghanistan has no oil, but there are plans to build a natural gas pipeline through Afghanistan to exploit gas supplies in the countries around it. That project is from Royal Dutch Shell. So, given your stance, be sure you don't enlist in the French or Dutch armed forces.

If you believe everything you read in newspapers or see on TV, you don't have a balanced view of what's really going on. The outcome of this war is more important than a petty partisan victory back home in the States. If you have allowed yourself to be convinced that this war is all about helping Bush, look again--it hasn't helped him at all. For better or for worse, he's the first president we've had in a long, long time who was willing to do what he thought was right, regardless of whether it hurt his political career or reputation (and people who make decisions or accept policies in the interest of protecting their reputations seldom, if ever, make choices for the benefit of others, especially if it would mean the cost of that reputation). Also, the war is NOT, nor ever has been, about oil. That's like saying that the International Space Station and all shuttle missions are for the sole reason of looking for aliens--it's a ridiculous notion that only someone who stays deliberately uninformed would adopt. Very little oil comes out of Iraq at the moment; and guess who the biggest customer of Iraqi oil is? France. Very little Middle Eastern oil, as a whole, even comes to this hemisphere, let alone the US; most of our oil comes from our own reserves, plus Canadian, Mexican, and Caribbean reserves, and imports from other countries in THIS hemisphere. Most of the oil in the Middle East, by contrast, goes to Europe, China, Russia, and India... more geographically-local customers, not surprisingly.
If you want to help with the growth of America, first learn what's actually going on in the WORLD, not just America; that means not believing everything you see on TV, newspapers, or believing everything your favorite politicians and celebrities tell you. They have REASONS for taking the stances they take; in this case, many of them have change from pro-war to anti-war (yes, many of them voted for it in the first place) because they figure they stand to gain from public opinion, regardless of whether the public has a clue what's going on. And since when is popularity an indicator of what's right and wrong, anyway?
I guess it all comes down to whether you want to bother finding things out for yourself, and talking to people who have actually been involved in this conflict, or whether you feel more reassured by mindlessly nodding your head and saying "Yeah!" to some show on TV. If so, there are plenty of shows on Nickelodeon tailored to people with that level of thinking and grasp on reality.

Well, the "mid-term Elections" didn't cause sufficient change, why would anything else?
