On July 06, 2007 3 Navy Seals were killed in Iraq by small arms fire near Baghdad...My question is this...How many SEALS make up a usual team, and do the SEALS do a lot of urban fighting or were they caught in the wrong place at the wrong time???I had a chance to train with SEALS and they are the best in the world. No comparison..To the 3 SEALS now swimming in heaven, take care brothers....Semper Fi.......Killed were:

Petty Officer First Class Jason Dale Lewis, 30, of Brookfield, Conn.,

Petty Officer First Class Robert Richard McRill, 42, of Lake Placid, Fla.,

Petty Officer First Class Steven Phillip Daugherty, 28, of Barstow, Calif.

I've played enough "Call of Duty" and "Medal of Honor" to familiarize myself with a few of the sniper rifles of World War II. But could any of those sniper rifles have been fitted with silencers back then?

I read that the Nazis had silencers for certain types of machine guns. But what about the sniper rifles?

Even if it wasn't practical to use in combat situations, was it possible? Did silencers for sniper rifles exist in the 40s? Even if it were just for state-side civilian or police use?

Any details would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Who do you think undertakes more operations which are kept secret from the public, the SAS or SBS. It's a matter of who gets chosen; is the SBS the better choice or is the SAS the better choice? I heard that the SAS is now less trust worthy because they are trigger happy and reckless. While the SBS' low profile allows more covert operations. Well what do you think?

And what would be better is if you have any source (book or web site) that has proof (or something like that) that can tell you who gets chosen (more often as it isn't always the same group) to do the covert operation.

Considering the "unpleasentness" that happened just over 20 years later a German victory may have prevented that. Would it have prevented WWII, or would maybe the USSR have started troubles down the road?

My husband is in the Air Force, he's an E-3. I have been recently thinking about joining the Air Force myself, I've had schooling so I will be an E-2 when I go to basic training. I am hoping to get a medical job, and my husband's a fire fighter. What are the chances of us getting the same base if we file for joint spouse?

This man I was debating with called me unpatriotic for supporting a withdrawal of troop from Iraq, yet I served over there myself and just got back, I know first hand that yes us troops are very proud to serve our country but as time went on everyone came to know we were there for no reason. A friend of mine had to kill a little boy who was strapped with bombs in the first week I arrived, then kids would learn that we were good so they would rush up to us for toys, candy etc. Times have changed though

Have you ever had a friend be killed by a road side bomb. For no reason, we are there for NO GOOD REASON we need to leave. And I can bet a lot of you thinking we need to stay are basically telling me that you want my friends still serving dead. We have done what we needed and I wish all my friends could come home, it seems like another dies every few months now, and I cannot believe someone calling me unpatriotic because I served my country. Open your eyes we need to get them home

Please could someone help me with this information as I know nothing of military tactics, war or fighting.

How come only 150 have been killed in four years- isn't that just over 30 a year? Like I said I am no expert but surely 30-40 dead a year is next to nothing for an ongoing conflict? I realise we are fighting guerrillas as opposed to a standing army, and therefore enemy weapons and ammunition will be limited compared to those of the UK/US, but even with this taken in to account, why the small numbers of casualties...for example; what was the equivalent number of British war dead during the Troubles, in a 4 year period (for all I know it might be even lower)?

Please help me understand this. I am in no way being deliberately disrespectful to Allied troops and of course do not condone a single death, let alone 150, but I am neither pro-, nor anti-, the current war in Iraq as I don't know enough to form an opinion. I'd just like to know the answer to the above query.

Thanks!

This dumb 'question' was an answer to one of my questions. How do you think one of the Rebels of 1776 would answer? Maybe since we're all "civilians" we should have to to make gun powder from horse manure, sulfer, and charcoal.

I heard Abrams have survived direct hits from Iraqi tanks, albeit the older ones. If its armour can stand a large calibre round, it should survive 30mm cannon fire.

a country spends several million dollars each year supporting a public military college tha is open only to males. college officials say that a males-only policy is important to develop strong leadership skills. Recently, however, several highly qualified young women have applied to the college, but were rejected. The country does not support any females-only colleges. From the women applicants' point of view, is the country's support of the colleges fair?why and why not??????
