It all depends on "the needs of the service". If they need to put feet in boots, the standards change. Although education is a consideration, your score on the ASVAB will (or at least used to) make a difference. Many years ago, when I was a Navy recruiter, a GED candidate had to have an AFQT of 51 or higher and the High School Diploma Grad only needed a 31. Other things they'll look at is if you need a drug use, criminal record or medical waiver for enlistment.
Keep in mind, that the military, like most civilian careers, highly encourages continuing education and you should take advantage of those programs if you join up. You could go in as a High School Dropout, but leave with a Bachelors Degree or higher as well as technical experience, that coupled with the degree thing would truly make you competitive in the real world.

You need a High School diploma or GED. They will help you get it. And I do know they are getting more lax since they need recruits. So things may have changed.
But to move up in the Army you need college too. My son did ROTC and college so he could go in as an officer. It was the best. He is only 25 and he is now a Captain. You can move up so fast in the Army with an education.

No, the only way is a High School Diploma, GED, or college degree (Associate's or Bachelor's). The Army May pay for your GED, ask your local recruiter for more information.

Maybe,
The Army will help you get your GED. However you must have a very clean record to come into the Army with a GED. I am a recruiter, and I have helped a few people get their GED, and join. Feel free to email or call me if you have any questions

You will need to take the GED test and pass it. I'm not sure if they will do that for you during boot camp or if you have to have it before you go in. You should call your local Army recruiter and find out. By the way, God bless you for considering a career in the military.

Yes, but you need a GED. Click on the link below to find out more on the subject and call a recruiter.
Also, contact more than one recruiting station. Some recruiters are lazy and don't like to fuss with waivers.
It seems there are a few lazy answerers here, too.

if you have a GED you can do it, if you have neither, its a big no. but if you talk to a recruiter, they can possibly hook you up to take the GED for free or for cheap
