Lies, Lies, Lies!

For centuries the West has used lies, propaganda and fear to wage war.

Why should anybody believe or buy into Britain's or America's account of any event in that region?

Vast difference if you think in terms of how normal citizens being interrogated by secret services in the UK and America (Secret prisons etc) or by any other parties - compared to how 'BRITISH SOLDIERS' slithering around Iranian borders, maybe looking for trouble and maybe provoking the Iranians.

So it is no small irony that today's U.S. Army finds itself under the greatest strain in a generation. The Pentagon made that clear April 2 when it announced that two Army units will soon return to Iraq without even a year at home, compared with the two years units have traditionally enjoyed. One is headed back after 47 days short of a year, the other 81. "This is the first time we've had a voluntary Army on an extended deployment," says Andrew Krepinevich, a retired Army officer who advises his old service. "A lot of canaries are dropping dead in the mine."

I've heard alot of criticism aimed toward the brits and their confessions.

But look at it this way,

If Iran offered the sailors a deal, like a plea bargain, and agreed to release the sailors without standing trial as long as they admitted their guilt. Then wouldn't it be smart cooperate?

In Iran the penalty for what they would have been tried for is death, and i think it's safe to assume they would have been found guilty.

There's no way Britain would allow it's sailors to be excecuted.

So not only did the sailors save their own lives by confessing, whether they were guilty or not, but in a very real way, didn't they also prevent a large scale violent conflict? If not a declaration of war?

I think this is a likely scenario and if it is the case, I think the brits made a damned good decision, not only for themselves but for their country.

Before you answer my question keep in mind, The president of Iran is a holocaust denier, Iran has called for the destruction of Israel a numerous amount of times, Iran is arming the Insurgents in Iraq so they can KILL American troops, and last the U.S. Navy has maintained a presence in the Persian Gulf for the last 2 decades for a couple of reasons-the most important reason being is that the U.S. Navy keeps the waters of the Persian Gulf peaceful so that Merchant ships can sail to their destination freely. If Iran gets Nuclear Weapons then we will have to pull our Navy ships out of the Gulf for fear of an Iranian Nuke strike that could kill thousands of sailors.

Do you ever feel like saying stuff it i'm done with trying to protect so many ungreatful people ie: The couch potatoes, who do nothing more than lay around stuffing their fat faces with with junk food, and who cause so much damage by gossiping about how the goverment of America are so evil, and how much they HATE the president, how the goverment is supposed to be behind the 9/11 attacks and all sorts of other BS, is there any point whatsoever in trying to defend freedom of speech when the definition of freedom of speech in America means that BRAIN DEAD IDIOTS are allowed to burn the flag and ban the pledge of alligence from schools, burning effigies of our brave troops and the president, what the he11 are we fighting for these people for, I am begining to think it is all such a waste of time, can you imagine what would happen if we ie: The frontliners in this war on terror, thought like the fat couch potatoes, and said stuff it it's every man for himself.???????????????????????

Right now im a 16 year old Sophomore who lives in South Carolina. I go to a private school with a good reputation and I get good grades(about 3.5 GPA) but I don't take any AP classes yet and im probably not in the top 40% of my class. I come from a military family and have a Dad that was in the Navy for 27 years and made the rank of Captain as a surgeon. I also have 20/20 eyesight which is necessary. I know that you have to get a letter from your state senator, but as of now how do I look for getting in?

honestly I am proud that the 15 british troops are back home, but I cant help but state that I am dissapointed in them. it did not take them long to give in to Tehrans wants and apoligize for something they didn t do. and then shaking hands with the enemy. I mean that is humiliating for the western powers. how can people be proud if their servicemen are so easily manipulated to do what the enemy wants them to do. I know for a fact if it were the U.S. troops they would not have given in, and would never shake hands with our enemy. It is dissapointing on how the british soldiers handled the situation. it is just humiliating for the west. my own personal opinion, I do not believe that those captured troops should be able to where those uniforms again. and the british military should start paying attention to their interrigation training for troops, hopeing this will never happen again. what are your thoughts on the topic?

Does anyone know if lasik is allowed before enlisting, and if not is there a certain amount of time you must wait? (I was reading over basic requirements to join the Navy and they said in some cases, if you had lasik eye surgery you were disqualified. Then I read that they let one guy in who had it because a certain amount of time had passed.)
