9/11 was important because we have never had so many civilians killed in an attack on our own soil. In addition, the attack destroyed, as it was meant to do, a symbolic and significant NYC building complex.
When people are killed in the middle of a war, their governments as well as the people are at least on notice of the possibility of horrific bombings. I’m not saying that the Bush administration didn’t have warnings of the possibility of an impending terrorist attack but the public was not in any way prepared for it. It was a shock.
I’m not condoning the bombing of innocent civilians. I can understand that sometimes governments think that that is the only way to stop a war and halt continuing bloodshed but it should be a last resort, used only under the direst circumstances.

All the things you mention were during a declared war between nations that had been recognized as nations. Planning a sneak attack against innocent people is wrong. But OK we do accept it and are going to Kill 300,000 terrorists for the souls of the 3,000. Any future attacks by the cowards will result in the same ratio, perhaps worse maybe we should ramp it up some instead of 100 cowards in Osamas Army we need to make it 1000 for every American or Ally Killed......Your Ball A SS!

We were upset because we were being attacked! It think that part is pretty simple. Don't you find it amazing that there has not been a war on American soil in over 200 years *Civil War excluded, we were fighting ourselves*
In general, Americans do want peace, war cocts us lives, money, time and precious resources. There are some war mongerers out there... but we peaceful Americans outnumber them at least 10-1.
Americans are not all about bombings.... we are all about free speach, baseball and cook outs! We are all about wroking hard and playing hard... we are about becoming a stronger nation.
Our government has killed a lot of people, but what country hasn't?
Some questions shouldn't be asked, our country has not healed from 9/11. Notice that we didn't go attack after 9/11...
I don't know about the rest of you... but I'm sick of men and women my age dieing in a war they have no business fighting... I want them to come home, I want our world to be at peace... and I want the idiot who asked this question to be asked about what he believes!

War is war and we (America) when confronted with an enemy will use full force to win. So when the 9/11 happened , America was forced to protect themselves. Like in Pearl Harbor. Bombs were dropped and then America reacted. We have every right to pick up arms and defend ourselves from cowards who run like dogs back to their dirt holes. Why do you figure that America should take the back seat ?? America has NOT killed Millions. Why does other countries figure we should be defeated ? And who are You ??

The US has not started a war since our own civil war. We did not kill millions in the Vietnam War, your facts are incredibly wrong. We do everything in our power to kill only combatants when we bomb places, even to the point of not killing our cowardly enemies when they use civilians as shields. 9/11 was a blatant attack on defenseless civilians, an extremely cowardly attack. Nowhere in history has the US ever done anything even remotely close to this. So shut up and thank your god that the US is not like you say we are, because if we were, you'd be dead right now.

from what I know the Vietnam war didn't go so well for the americans, a lot of their soldiers were killed too.
As far as I know Americans never killed 3000 people all at once, from what you're saying you think it's ok to kill 3000 innocent people who were not all american, where I grew up it's considered wrong. American may have killed people during the Vietnam war, but terrorists today are killing thousands of innocent people everyday.

Who the HELL ARE YOU to spout of hateful rhetoric to try and sway people into believing your hateful lies and dangerous attitude.
There is a DIFFERENCE A MAJOOOOORRRRRR difference between a war and a terrorist ATTACK.
9/11 was not KARMA. It is NOT someone else's place to bring any kind of karma to anyone....Irregardless of what they believe in.
The USA was in Vietnam not to go over there and kill innocent civilians but to provide aid so that south nam could protect themselves from being killed. You may agree or disagree with what happened over there but we were not on a terrorist mission.
With the power and wealth that any major player in the International system has comes a lot of responsibility, and wanting to obtain peace IS one of those.
I don't know why I'm wasting my time with you.....You're obviously only on here to spread hatred so that you can get your hidden agenda across to people in hopes of luring them into your decietful cult....Are you a terrorist?

It makes me laugh when someone who hides behind the freedoms won by those who fought can sit back and disparage the actions necessary to gain those freedoms.
Either get your *** on the front lines and "fix" the problem, or go back to cursing 10 year olds in Worlds of Warcraft.

We DO want peace. Destruction comes from force, threat, or defense. We are upset about 9/11 because people invaded an otherwise peaceful land that thought it couldn't be invaded. Now, we will forever be mindful of the terrorist issue. Something that I don't believe will ever be totally eliminated in our lifetime.
