Do you ever feel like saying stuff it i'm done with trying to protect so many ungreatful people ie: The couch potatoes, who do nothing more than lay around stuffing their fat faces with with junk food, and who cause so much damage by gossiping about how the goverment of America are so evil, and how much they HATE the president, how the goverment is supposed to be behind the 9/11 attacks and all sorts of other BS, is there any point whatsoever in trying to defend freedom of speech when the definition of freedom of speech in America means that BRAIN DEAD IDIOTS are allowed to burn the flag and ban the pledge of alligence from schools, burning effigies of our brave troops and the president, what the he11 are we fighting for these people for, I am begining to think it is all such a waste of time, can you imagine what would happen if we ie: The frontliners in this war on terror, thought like the fat couch potatoes, and said stuff it it's every man for himself.???????????????????????

Those couch potatoes don't bother me much,I'm more bothert by people who vote for the predident-having *support the troops *stickers on their car and do nothing!
My husband does his second term in iraq, and I experince little support from all these peoples. My husbands family are great supporters, but when it comes to me ( who sits in the middle of nowhere, thousand of miles from home) their is much like No Support what so ever.Everyone is going on with their lives, and nobody really cares.I went thru it the first time and been really uppset by it, but for the sake of my hubby I shut up and take it! Talking to other spouses they have the same experince.
Also what I really hate, I know some guys, who been with us but backing out of deployments as good as they can.Makes me sick. That some of they guys have to go tons of times and other just sit here and do nothing.
My siz in law is the best example, she is so pro military, but when her hubby joint she made sure he doesn't join the Army, so he doesn have to get deployed.Because those Iraqis don't worth it.It's nice how some pick the best out of it.
Oh well, no he is AF and in Iraq - I guess it didn't work LOL
And what's up with that mail system, why the hell we have to pay here to send boxes to Iraq?At the first time , our guys din't even had water and so on, and we send tons of it.Thanks god we been in Germany, so we could send it via APO for free.Otherwise we woman would have been broke!
And to the Military part, the first time, I got *great* support, one call in the entire deployment time.No he is gone without his unit, so there is no one respnsible for me.
So I hope I have never an emergency LOL

My motivation for being in the military was selfish. I had/have my vision of America (the good, the not so good) and for me, that was reason enough to love the country enough to volunteer to serve.
I believe that - through my service, I have a bit of insight of how the government works. Sometimes, it IS brain-dead, sometimes, it genuinely wants to help. The issue is that the government is run by people. And those people are influenced by people. The system is 'broken' or at least ill. but that's not your question...

I joined, I served, and was proud to do so. Whether I like the president during my time (which I did not), is irrelavant. Whether I liked the policies of the entire government wsa irrelavant as well. I served because it was right for me.

My only other comment is that the flag of America, is cloth. What it means to each person is their responsibility. Burning a flag because you're angry with America isn't and shouldn't be illegal. The freedom of expression - even expression that I don't like, is protected by the document which I love - the Constitution.

Can't say I ever really think about people like that. Why should I? I know that there are many people out there who believe that the words duty and honor and pride are just empty words or that I have been brain washed into believing in those ideals. However, I believed in those things before I signed up. Or rather, I believed in those concepts and I wanted those concepts to be apart of my life which is why I joined. It wasn't until later that I really learned what duty, pride, and honor truly meant.

As for the those who don't even understand the concept; I guess I feel sad and maybe a little contempt for them because it just seems like such an empty existence.

Im currently in the military; it doesnt bother me when people arent grateful of what our military does, because alot of people do love what we do. I have had complete strangers buy me dinner and pay for my gas just because of the uniform i was wearing, they didnt know me. but its what i do that they respect, the military protects our nation and protects the freedoms of everybody, not just freedoms of the rich people or the smart people or the powerful people. The freedoms of everybody including the "coach potato' who hates this country. Because thats everybodys right. You asked what would happen if every frontliners and gave up and said every man for himself. Well take a look at the flag to me its not just cloth, its blood, sweat and tears that every military person has gone through. I am damn proud to be in the military of the greatest country in the world.

Being a Navy girlfriend here I think I can say something. I do agree with you. However, there are some of us who are just not tough enough to do what you do. If I joined any branch of the military I wouldn't last through boot camp. It's not that I'm lazy or anything like that. I just don't think I could do it. I look at you who do defend me and my country with the utmost respect. Even though you might look at someone like me, with disgust. I thank you for defending me, and my family. But don't bash us for not being in the military. We aren't all like that.

There are only two people that an American can thank for their freedoms God and a Soldier. When I was a soldier and was in combat I fought first to save my life and those of my buddies, I fought to protect my loved ones back home. And I fought over their rather than have to fight an enemy over here on our soil. Has anyone ever noticed, that ever sinse Dr. Spock came out with all his dribble patroitism began to decrease. If we were ever invaded I have to wonder how many left wing liberals would be linning up to give information to the enemy in order to save their own backsides.

Sometimes these people annoy me. As long as they realize how many of our troops lost their lives so they could criticize the government and presidents. They're free to say what they feel. Sometimes I don't feel they have the respect they should for present and past troops. Some people don't realize we got our freedom from war.

You just really have to take those people for what they are worth. Too often they forget that it is the military that helps them keep their freedom of speech. If they spoke that way in China or the Middle East they would be imprisoned or killed.

A great story....I don't remember the source. A french official was complaining to an American military officer. The American asked the frenchman what language he spoke. The frenchman replied "French." The American replied, "You are welcome." That pretty much sums it up.

I am prior military and totally agree with you 100%. Too many people are only once a year patriots. Just like they are once a week Christains. They talk a good game but cant and are not willing to walk the walk. I am proud to be an American. I would die for my God and Country any day of the week. I display my colors proudly. And I take great offense to those who diss my country because we are willing to stand up and fight for whats right. Those couch potatoes are too lazy to get off their tails and at least vollunteer in their communities. Thats where patriotism begins; right in their home towns. But no, they choose to sit back and knock all our troops for dieing for them. I wish we could choose who we die for individually but we cant. So our troops die for our country as a whole. I applaud all branches in all wars for their duty. Without them, who knows where we would be today. Probably all looking the same, talking the same, and having to abide by the law of some idiot dictator. No thanks. Thats not for me.

Proud to be an American through and through. Thanks for letting me vent as well.
