I'm trying to find the number of the squadron that used F-14 Tomcats painted all black. I cannot think of their names, but at least one of them was somewhat famous. Can anyone tell me what the squadron number was/is and possibly point me to a site that contains info about them?

This is mainly for people in the military and their spouses. How do you cope when your spouse gets sent off? Regardless of if it's just for a few weeks or months, or if it is years. I haven't had to face this yet but I am going to have to come June when my fiance (he'll be my husband by then) leaves for boader patrol. Also he has mentioned he will be re enlisting and going active. What do you do to pass the time? How do you remain faithful when you are apart so long? Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated.

ok first lets start off with this... Im 16 yrs old (turning 17 in the summer), and am currently a Junior in highschool. I was looking into enlisting in active duty this summer so I know if i qualify or not (I have flat feet), so if I dont I still could explore other options such as college, etc... ok now down to business... is having a Career in the U.S. Army actually worth it? I personally was looking at the MOS "Cannon Crew Member" and I know there are many benefits to being in the army, along with the pride and experience as well. But I was just wandering if it is actually worth all the $, good times, and friends you will make to stay in for your main career in life (@ least 20 years for the pention). I know it will be hard to settle down in anyone place due to your base relocating, and I also know it will be hard to find someone to marry and start a family if I am active duty... so is it actually worth all the $, and experiences to stay in for 20+ years active duty enlistment?

Military Academies/colleges used to be bastions of a warrior culture. Today, the idea of making men through the “stern fires of military discipline” is viewed as anachronistic, even at these schools. I am a West Point graduate, but I thought that my experience there was like the “diet coke” of military education. I was never hazed, rarely yelled at, and didn’t think it was all that hard. The "achievement over adversity" mentality is long gone. Air Force academy tore down its famous “BRING ME MEN” sign, because it wasn’t PC enough. It seems like VMI and The Citadel are also following in the kinder, gentler steps of us. What happened in the national character to emasculate these schools?

Here's the link to the article. It was an AP investigation using military statistics. It wasn't only the marines though.

The recent outing of pathetic conditions in a facility designated to provide medical care for the veterans that serve our country is nothing new. I live near a VA Hosptial, the conditions there have been terrible for years and is underfunded like most ALL Veteran services.

Bush tried to sneak a raise in costs to the Vets in one of his budgets awhile back. I believe that the DC elected officials should get no better medical care than those that Volunteer to serve our country.

Illegals have gotten away with free medical for years in this country. The hospitals write them off, but will go after an American tax payer as if they intended to steal medical care.

Our Vet's are subjected to red tape, mountains of paper work to make sure a member of the military that served this great country doesn't get more than they are entitled to. Our vets need lawyers and Congresman/woman to help get their war related injury/illness covered and receive their due benefits.

Source Newscast. American marines were raiding an Iraqi house and had assembled the family in the yard. The americans were screaming and shouting at the Iraqis. Suddenly a very small dog ran into the yard and barked at the Marines. One Brave Marine stepped forward and disregarding the danger to himself shot the dog. Emptied a magazine into it. Which is the superior life form? The dog or the scumbag marine?

Soldiers putting thier lives on the line every single day in Iraq and Afghanistan yet having to sleep under landrovers IN bases because of lack of accomodation and proper beds - or in a camp bed and sleeping bag combo in tents. To add insult to injury, these soldiers CONTINUE to pay accomodation and food charges out of thier wages.

Compare that to prisoners living accomodations - air conditioned, regular meals and proper rest periods - of that I am sure the UN and Red Cross etc make sure of.. and, to add insult to injury, these prisoners do not have to pay a cent for thier accomodation or food !

You get the picture here...?

Don't you think soldiers should AT LEAST get equal treatment to prisoners - ie proper rest periods, proper accomodation - after all, the Govt are docking thier wages to pay for such BASIC living standards - EVEN whilst in the theatre of war !!

Hope Gordon Browns' "promised" £400-MILLION will be put to good use for the Armed Services.. I doubt it somehow

Allright everybody,
I am planning to join the RAF. I know Irish citizens can join, but there's a residency requirement mentioned on the
RAF website. It says that a person has to be resident in the UK
for three years before applying . Can anyone confirm that? I
don't want to waste the AFCO peoples' time
Thanks.
P.S. Does the residency thing apply to the Army, Marines e.t.c
