Military Academies/colleges used to be bastions of a warrior culture. Today, the idea of making men through the “stern fires of military discipline” is viewed as anachronistic, even at these schools. I am a West Point graduate, but I thought that my experience there was like the “diet coke” of military education. I was never hazed, rarely yelled at, and didn’t think it was all that hard. The "achievement over adversity" mentality is long gone. Air Force academy tore down its famous “BRING ME MEN” sign, because it wasn’t PC enough. It seems like VMI and The Citadel are also following in the kinder, gentler steps of us. What happened in the national character to emasculate these schools?

As a veteran of 27 years, I totally agree with you. The bleeding hearts have so diluted the Military that is makes me wonder if we have the capability to wage a war any more. It began 15 years ago when VMI caved to the female law suit. Once in, she didn't even graduate. Now the homo's have infiltrated the ranks so badly that one never knows who is fighting next to him and the trust is lost forever. God save America !

I would think that it is due to the climate that is put on by the far left. I am a grad of Parris Island, SC and we got yelled at and I noticed that while I was in it got more PC. That is not the job of the military to not hurt peoples feelings.
Those schools are the best in the country for what education they provide and the environment that they have. If that goes away then sadly the country is loosing a gem. Semper Fi

eh. it's all against the law, or at least it's sue-able. we (us americans at least) are becoming more wussy by the day. i'm sure there will be a time in the near future when a teacher can't even yell at a student. they have taken away everything that makes real men 'men'. for soldiers they should push them to their limit to see what they are made of, but noooooo. the next generation of soldier will be physically strong, but mentally weak and untested.. and that's no good.
with the way bush is handling the war, only true soldiers who want to fight would even consider enlisting. and they should have that experience that the good ol soldiers had. my uncle went to west point and he said it was hell. but he said he wouldn't have it any other way and if he were younger and 'active', i would feel secure having him defend our country. papmer the little preppy school kids but toughen up our soldiers, please!!!
PCness won't defend our nation!!

I have to agree with you. It is a sad state of affairs when military academic icons such as the ones you mention have to ask permission and worry about the feeling of those who will never feel the pride of exiting those doors as graduates.

A blend of liberalisim and political correctness. Its how the left are undermining the entire country. Dumb down the people, corrupt their values, and make them weak with idiotic rules regarding equality, tollerance, multiculturalisim, and togetherness.

Pal if you think that being a warrior has anything to do with gender there are plenty of examples in history that would prove you wrong. Besides I have an exwife that could take you anytime.

This is what happened as a result of the feminization of America; we have become a nation of 'touchy-feelies' who care more about having a nice chat than keeping our country strong.

Everything will be fine, as long as the enemies we face are as PC and "enlightened" as we are.
(sarcasm)
I think we've lost something vital, and will have to be rocked by outside events to get it back.
PS Almost forgot - thanks for your service!
