I'm trying to find the number of the squadron that used F-14 Tomcats painted all black. I cannot think of their names, but at least one of them was somewhat famous. Can anyone tell me what the squadron number was/is and possibly point me to a site that contains info about them?

I hadn't heard of this, either, so I went hunting. Seems VX-4 and VX-9 had black F-14s. Here's a site with some pics: http://www.topedge.com/panels/aircraft/sites/mats/photo12.htm

Having been stationed at NAS Oceana during the hey day of the F-14's, stationed on the USS Nimitz CVN-68 and living under their flight path, I've NEVER seen a BLACK F-14 in real life.
As far as VX-9, home based at China Lake, it is an operational test and evaluation squadron which had a permanent F-14 Detachment located at Point Mugu, California. VX-9 is not a sea going squadron.

F-14s were mostly grey although some were painted differently for special occasions. No U.S. F-14 had permently black painted F-14s. There is the Black Bunny F-14 toy model.

I have seen a black Tomcat, however it was a static display at NAEC Lakehurst. I'm not too familiar with Navy squadron markings though.
