The us military can not resolve this situation. Due to the way in which the Constitution is set up the military is very controlled by chief of staff and dept of defense. Military do not make policies. They just take orders and do it regardless if it is immoral or not. To get out of the situation it has to come from the top. Period.

sIf I could come up with a good , workable answer it would be creative, cunning & surprising. Sadly , I can't see anyway for the US to vacate Iraq, nor, in truth, do I believe they want to leave. They are in the process of building 14, at least, permenent bases. Also, when the US withdraws, there will be a blood bath of a civil war to rival the genocide in Rwanda. In the meantime they are establishing a foothold in the region, fro where they can threaten Iran, Syria and any other country in the region. Ultimately, the only way the US will get out is to put a dictator , similar to the one they just got rid of, in power. It wouldn't be the first time. Whatever happens I think it's going to be another 5-10 years before it's resolved.

A strong self-defended America should remove all our troops from all foreign soil. Switzerland has shown that this can work; they have not had a foreign soldier on their soil since Napoleon. And there is no way they will join in such absurd adventures as the alleged "coalition" of the alleged "willing" supposed to help impose George Bush's will on Iraq.

I'm one of the many who for a long time thought that we owe the Iraqis some resemblence of stability before we left. After all, we have put them in a horrible situation. But now, I believe they need to deal with their own problems, ON THEIR OWN. Using their own children as cover for suicide bombings? I'm sorry, but deal with your own ridiculous fanatics on your own.

The best way now would be to just leave. No fanfare, no announcement, just leave. They want to kill each other? Fine let them.
