Take a look at this list of contract workers who have been killed in Iraq. This is just a partial list.

The pay is in direct relation to the danger. In afghanistan you have to worry about mortors landing on the base. Gun fire from the people outside the fences, and not to mention the animals that make it onto the camp. Not to mention the dangers if your husband is going to be a truck driver. In Iraq you have the mortors, improvised explosives, unexploded ordinances from the bombs dropped in the past wars, gun fire, and gun fire. In Iraq there have been about 3900 military personnel that have died in the last 4 years. There have been right around 900 contractors killed. So for every 4 military person killed oone contractor loses his/her life. That is if he will be working for KBR up there. If he is working for Blackhawk then you know what he does and how dangerous it is and you shouldn't have to ask. But all that info aside I am a contractor over here right now. There are dangers out there, but honestly it is scary watching the news from the US over here. More people are killed in the US everyday then in the rest of the world combined. I have friends in every country there are contractors and they do their time over there without a problem. I haven't lost a friend yet and it has been 4 years

Is he going to be making omelets inside Bagram air base, or will he end up driving around Iraq in an SUV looking for bad guys? That determines how much danger he will be in.
Most of the contractors I saw were more likely to get run over by a forklift than die from the enemy, and those odds are slim-to-none.

95% of the contractors in Iraq work inside secured areas. And the leading cause of death for contractors in Iraq is heart attacks, etc.
It simply is not as dangerous as the news media claims.

naaaa khoda nokone!!! Its quite risky in Afghanistan suitable now. President Obama ordered yet another 20 000 troops over there, this suggests that there is fairly risky stuff happening. I surely does not threat it, that is not properly worth his existence. accepted street part bombs are being set off off, the country isn't solid suitable now. there's a rationalization why they are achieving out all a thank you to united states of america for an MRI technician, that is because of the fact they are so desperate. i'm Iranian, and that i does not even take that interest if it got here from Iran, the government is being quite repressive suitable now, the middle east purely isn't a large place today. no count what, stay in North united states of america

It depends on the type of work that he is doing in Iraq, a lot of the tasks are mundane tasks and hold limited risks as they dont go outside the wire hardly at all if ever. However there are jobs such as convoy security that are very dangerous.

my personal prejudice against the use of contractors aside, yes it is dangerous but it depends on the situation. the pay is really good for a reason.
either way good luck and my god watch over your husband.

It depends what they do. If your contracted to work on computers, then it's not very dangerous. The only danger they would be in is traveling from base to base.

Civillians have a tendency to "lose their heads" over there, Is the money worth the risk? I too had job offers for Iraq, I will never take one.
