This isn't limited to a physical aspect (of course men are stronger and bigger); I'm also asking about intelligence, weapons handling, endurance, etc.

I've seen both extremes on this forum- "macho-man" idiots who make wise-@$$ remarks, and "macho-feminists" who go on a tripe about how sexist men are and how superior a particular female officer is. Sometimes it's hard to find a direct, informed answer.

So please respond only if you have first-hand knowledge and have seen these things for yourself. And please give serious, RESPECTFUL answers. I'm not asking for more PC or more machismo; just be realistic, based on what you personally experienced. Thank you.

There is a war in Iraq. There is a war in Afghanistan. Do you see the difference? What is it? Do you notice the blending of the two in general media?
And finally, what do you think? Of each.

I've heard that it's not that dangerous for jobs need on the base. He's a correctional officer and is level 3 certified security officer.....are there ANY jobs he'd qualify in that don't put him in direct harm?

For the able amputees and disabled that are home in hospitals to be able to stay in a specialized area of the Military. They are needed and would be able to work in electronics on any base.

This would allow them to continue to work for the military towards their retirement and receive their benefits (as they will disabled anyway).

It would seem that emotionally and for the sake of their families they would be so much better off to have purpose and direction and a sense of importance and value.

Wouldn't this be a practical way to fill many of the sit down jobs.
Yes they might have to be retrained, but new personnell would anyway.

What do you think?

President Bush sounds more and more determined to take military action against Iran. If China were to attack Taiwan we might not have enough in reserve to defend her. Has our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan actually made us more vulnerable?

With all our ground troops stuck in the two countries in the middle east, and Iran getting a little feisty right now, wouldn't it be wise to go ahead and start the draft machinery rolling, and training troops, so we can throw them into battle when the time has come?

This is a serious question. If you don't have a serious response, and especially if you are a promoter of the war and yet have never served your country, measure your answer carefully before making yourself look silly.

I'm not saying the draft will be entirely necessary, but wouldn't it be a good idea to be prepared?

I highly doubt Iran will conveniently wait for us to be done in Iraq before they drop a nuke on Israel.

Do you think that the U.S could ever operate as a non-volinteer military? Everyone would be required to join when they become 18 years old. They have to serve at least 4 or 5 years in the military. Could that ever workd in the U.S? Would our military be stronger and more powerful for that decision? Also, do you think that the political players in washington would be more hesitant about going to war because they would most likely have at least one close family member serving in the military? What do you think? Iam NOT talking about a draft, but a permanent policy of be serving at least one contract in the armed forces when you turn 18...
