He will send you a letter with all that information.
Basic is now 9 weeks Sorry to correct you SSG, I went through a little over a year ago, and he might be stuck in reception for various reasons.
I was in reception for a week and a half. He will get one phone call every 3 weeks and he can send out mail daily. I know I did.
You'll hear some news in no time.

Basic training is 9 weeks, but as other people said, that doesn't necessarily start when he gets there. My husband sat in reception for 2 weeks waiting for things to get rolling. If your son is an 11B (infantry), he should do his Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft Benning as well, so his graduation won't be until he is done with both basic and AIT. If he is in another MOS, he will probably go to another Army post to do his AIT.

Once things get started, you (or whomever your son listed as his next of kin) will get information regarding his graduation. I think they mailed the package about halfway through my husband's training. It should tell you everything you need to know about his graduation. In the meantime, write your son lots of letters so he knows how missed he is!

Plan on it being in about 10 to 11 weeks..allow about two to three weeks for processing and then start actual training. He will be able to send u the information about it and u should prob get a letter in the mail from the base with information about when the graduation is scheduled to be and about the area and the best places for hotels and food and all that kinda stuff.

Basic Training at Ft. Benning is specifically nine weeks long. Is he also going to be doing AIT? Just figure out when his official date of basic training started. Tell him congrats ahead of time and thank you for his service.
