For the able amputees and disabled that are home in hospitals to be able to stay in a specialized area of the Military. They are needed and would be able to work in electronics on any base.

This would allow them to continue to work for the military towards their retirement and receive their benefits (as they will disabled anyway).

It would seem that emotionally and for the sake of their families they would be so much better off to have purpose and direction and a sense of importance and value.

Wouldn't this be a practical way to fill many of the sit down jobs.
Yes they might have to be retrained, but new personnell would anyway.

What do you think?

I am saying that these people would belong to an exceptional division of the military. The would not have to physically fight, THEY HAVE ALREADY DONE IT.
But they still have plenty to offer.

We (the Army) has already sent a Captain who is an amputee back downrange at his request. He worked hard and met all the standards. That takes guts and determination. We (the Army) also have a blind soldier doing work for the military. Those that have been wounded are finding places within the military and are still working.... Did you know we had a General with one leg? I'll let you find out who he is...

The military is made up of soldiers who have to be able to go into battle if the need be. Same reason you cannot be fat in the military. There are non military government jobs that can be given to these veterans. The military cannot afford to use their budget on this type of program. This sounds cold, but it is just stating facts.

If you can not run or fight you are useless in military terms. During the battle of the bulge in WW2 cooks, clerks and mechanics went on the line. The same principal applies to day fight or die. Though cripples would make great suicide troops massive savings and death to the enemy.
