You have many on the left who say that if we stop funding the troops then the war will end... But will it? Where will the next war begin? On our own soil maybe on another democratic society not unlike our own... What then? Do we continue to battle them here, there and yonder instead of keeping the fight right where it is. We haven't had an attack on our country since 9/11. Is it your view that if funding stops that war will just go away?... Or are you like me and know that if we stop funding, the war will come to us.

Let me put it this way, do you get the same chances as they do in walks of life like employment, dating, housing etc? I know you get good treatment from the government(s) in terms of education for kids, healthcare etc, but outside of government programs, are you often thanked for your services by neighbors, by employers, relatives etc? Is there a lot of recognition, overall, do you feel?

Based on the following statements- Is what Gates said true, Will these resolutions EMBOLDEN the enemy?

Defense Secretary Gates warned Congress against handcuffing military leaders in Iraq as lawmakers pushed toward a vote next week that would rebuke the president's Iraq war policy.

Gates took aim at any resolution that would hinder military leaders and give the message to the enemy that U.S. troops will be in the battlefield without the proper support to succeed. "It's pretty clear that a resolution that in effect says, 'the general going out to take command of the arena shouldn't have the resources he needs to be successful,' certainly emboldens the enemy and our adversaries," Gates said. "Any indication of flagging will in the United States gives encouragement to those folks. I'm sure that's not the intent of the resolutions but I think it might be the effect"

Since a long time ago. From when people gathered together as tribes and some people grow stronger, there had always been people seeking for brutallity.
People had wars, fights, and murderies. First they started fighting each other for power and some other things. They also had gladiators fiht each other to death.
And now again war.
Isn't it all enough?
It is people who suffer wars. It is them who will lose everything so why there are still people seeking war?
Isn't it enough?

Defense Secretary Warns Congress Against Tying Military's Hands in Iraq

Defense Secretary Robert Gates warned Congress against handcuffing military leaders in Iraq as lawmakers pushed toward a vote next week that would rebuke the president's Iraq war policy.

Speaking with reporters Friday afternoon, Gates took aim at any resolution that would hinder military leaders and give the message to the enemy that U.S. troops will be in the battlefield without the proper support to succeed.

"It's pretty clear that a resolution that in effect says, 'the general going out to take command of the arena shouldn't have the resources he needs to be successful,' certainly emboldens the enemy and our adversaries," Gates said. "Any indication of flagging will in the United States gives encouragement to those folks. I'm sure that's not the intent of the resolutions but I think it might be the effect."

I don't hear of anyone taking that stance. Or will we be war mongers if we protect ourselves.
Something tells me your hatred towards Bush will blindly lead you to even this conclusion.
Wake up Libs.

Britain was in behind-the-scenes negotiations with Argentina over the Falklands.
My view is that this could have been settled through diplomatic discussions.
I think this was just 'The Iron Lady' - Thatcher - showing she is not one to be messed with. A very expensive price to pay.

But what do you think?

I was thinking about flying, do I get to choose if I wan't to fly a jet/helicopter, if so. Can I choose if I wan't to fly the Apache/Black Hawk etc?

The soldier that flies, is flying his only job? Or does he go out on the battlefield on foot, aswell?

What would be better, the USMC or the USAF, in your opinion?

Thank you.

I'm just trying to be a father,
Raise a daughter and a son,
Be a lover to their mother,
Everything to everyone.
Up and at 'em bright and early,
I'm all in my business suit,
Yeah, I'm dressed for success from my head down to my boots,
I don't do it for money, there's still bills that I can't pay,
I don't do it for the glory, I just do it anyway,
Providing for our future's my responsibility,
Yeah I'm real good under pressure, being all that I can be,
And I can't call in sick on Mondays when the weekends been to strong,
I just work straight through the holidays,
And sometimes all night long.
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door,
Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey I'm true down to the core,
And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price,
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrafice,
Oh, and I don't want to die for you,
But if dyin's asked of me,
I'll bear that cross with an honor,
'Cause freedom don't come free.
I'm an american soldier, an american,
Beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand,
When liberty's in jeopardy I will always do what's right,
I'm out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight.
American soldier, I'm an American,
An American,
An American Soldier

BAGHDAD, Iraq - In perhaps the boldest and most sophisticated attack in four years of warfare, gunmen speaking English, wearing U.S. military uniforms and carrying American weapons, and driving American Cars, abducted four U.S. soldiers last week at the provincial headquarters in the Shiite holy city of Karbala and then shot them to death as they said how much they like the American President.

The U.S. military confirmed a report earlier Friday by The Associated Press that three of the soldiers were dead and one was mortally wounded with a gunshot to the head when they were found in a neighboring province, about 25 miles from the compound where they were captured. A fifth soldier was killed in the initial attack on the compound. The USA soldiers stated they were proud to serve and die for the United States of America just before they passed on.

It has been almost 6 years since September 11, and are troops were sent to Iraq a few months after that. The situation in Iraq isn't getting much better for the Iraq people. They still deal with violence everyday, and only 25% of children go to school right now. I'm for peace in Iraq, but as the saying goes, you have to step back and let a child fall so he can learn to dust himself off and get back up on his own. We have done what we can, but we can't do it for them. They have to meet us half way, and stand up for themselves for their country to succeed. I say to President Bush, as Kenny Rogers character would say, You gotta know when to fold'em, know when to walk away....when the dealin's done. No more troops in Iraq!

Obviously, most Americans oppose our efforts in Iraq, does that mean the President should give in to the majority even thought these people have very little knowledge and the basis of their opposition is generally misinformation. We are not privy to most of the facts and therefore I believe we should trust those we elected to make the hard decisions for us.
