Every Marine is a rifle man. So yes, I suppose the Marine Corps is "more infantry" than the Army. But as far as numbers, the Marines have fewer active people than the Army because the Marines is known to have a much tenser recruit training. That's where the phrase, "The Few, The Proud," comes from.

The Marines have combat support and office-type positions to fill as well as "infantry" or combat personnel.

However, when things get tough, don't be surprised if you see our leaders calling on the Marines to lead the fight. I do NOT say that to in any way diminish the dignity and importance of the other services ... they're ALL important ... every last infantryman and cook.

But there's something about our Marines that has them being called upon for many of the hardest duties/missions out there.
