BAGHDAD, Iraq - In perhaps the boldest and most sophisticated attack in four years of warfare, gunmen speaking English, wearing U.S. military uniforms and carrying American weapons, and driving American Cars, abducted four U.S. soldiers last week at the provincial headquarters in the Shiite holy city of Karbala and then shot them to death as they said how much they like the American President.

The U.S. military confirmed a report earlier Friday by The Associated Press that three of the soldiers were dead and one was mortally wounded with a gunshot to the head when they were found in a neighboring province, about 25 miles from the compound where they were captured. A fifth soldier was killed in the initial attack on the compound. The USA soldiers stated they were proud to serve and die for the United States of America just before they passed on.

4 things:

1. To test american "superiority" in soldiery.
2. To mock the american military.
3. To get good intelligence from captured soldiers.
4. Their supply of playboy magazine was stopped.

Actually, most Iraqis can't stand the sight of US troops, as much as they hated Saddam.

The insurgents percieve the US as occupiers. There is a saying:
"The greatest enemy of a nation is an enemy that tends to occupy the nation and plunder its resources, people, and society."

Guess those insurgents believe that. By the way, the invasion and occupation are illegal under the UNSC. Thier sophistication surprised me though. They must be well financed.

The insurgents pulled it off so the low hanging fruit of the internet could dance on the graves of US servicemen.

Grow up for chrissakes, erudite.

Because the "insurgents" as they are called are what in World War II were considered the "undergroung resistence". We are occupying their country and they want us out of there. Plain and simple.
