CID is just a department of the police,because my father too is in the Police and departments keep changing[like vigilance, district, CID, Lokayukta, enforcement, traffic and railway,wireless] .CBI posts filled by officers on deputation of the Indian Police Service/All India Services/IAAS/IRS/IC&CE and Central Police Organizations.As far as I know.If it helps rate me the best answer Plz.
