OK, what your probably asking, is the news says Bush is sending 21,000 troops to Iraq. And you want to know how many soldiers that is.

It is 21,000 soldiers or marines.

Saying troops is the same as saying soldier, marine, sailor or air men.

It is just easier to say troops than trying to break it down to the different service branch's.

A troop is another name for company. It is used primarily in US Army cavalry units. Typically a troop will have around 150 people in it.

"Troop" refers to the people themselves.Are you talking about a platoon,squad,brigade....?
