I noticed that US Coast Guard have US Coast Guard AUXILIARY. I think other branches of military have the likewise if I am not mistaken (anyone is welcome to correct me).

For someone older than average military enlistment age (I am 33, but in good health and shape), can the Auxiliary be a better choice? Does the Auxiliary provide similar job-related training, life style, benefit and rewards as the military? I understand Auxiliary is civilian and non-military component of military.

Someone please shed lights on Military/Guard Auxiliary please.

I've seen two stories on this subject. One soldier was living in
his car. The other had a wife & 4 kids was about to lose
everything, untill NightLine stepped in. This was on TV last night.

I've just taken a peek at the US Yahoo Answers site, and there's general celebration at the hanging of Saddam Hussein.

Clearly, for American citizens to take such pleasure from this, he must have butchered thousands of Americans, but I don't recall ever hearing about these killings.

He did some fine work on Iraq, too. He headed an economic planning council that oversaw the building of vast industrial plants, huge housing projects, eight-lane highways, bridges, airports, universities and communication systems. Is Bin Laden forgotten?

I just recieved a letter (more like an ad) from the airforce reserves giving me all the bells and whisles about reenlisting. Ever since I got out the army, I got locks. Now I know that I can't have them in the army, and if I would of reenlisted I'd have to cut them off ( my locks are shoulder length now, but my hair was pretty long to begin with anyway). I was just wondering if I join the air force would I have to cut them off. I looked up their uniform standards but it didn't really tell me anything...

Most of our troops are killed and injured by stealthily placed roadside bombs. Up to now whatever strategies we've had for dealing with these IED's haven't been effective. How will "doubling down" on the troops in Iraq make any difference? Other than to give the insurgent's more targets? I would like a serious answer from anyone who might support the idea of a "surge".
