My husband is here in the states now, but just returned january of 05 and getting ready to go back in the coming months. I never worry about my husband. He is a good soldier because he has been trained by the best army in the world! He does his job well, and I just sit and wait for him to come home to me when his mission is complete. If you worry, it just makes life stressful.
And to respond to someone about the white socks. Number one, troops dont wear white socks with their duty uniforms. Well maybe other branches do, but army certainly does not. They wear white socks for PT but PT is not mandated during deployments. And secondly, if troops need socks, they go purchase socks or have a family member send them. Troops are issued plenty of GREEN socks, but socks can be purchased for a very low price at the PXs at the FOBs. That is what clothing allowances are for. Don't worry about the troops uniform needs. Send them a letter to say thank you or send care packages. That is one way to show you care.

We are all worried about our troops in Iraq. To the troops, their families and friends I want you to know that I think about what you are going through every single day. I can't imagine dealing with the range of emotion that you must be enduring. Regardless of how any of us feel about the war itself it is important that we honor each and every one of the men and women of the armed forces whose sacrifice means that you have the freedom to live the way you want to and to voice your opinion.
During Christmas a local organization was taking up a collection of white socks for our troops in Iraq. That organization said that our government issues 6 pairs of white socks per person for an 18 month tour of duty. When the socks are gone the men and women have to wear their boots without socks. That's unimaginable!!! We need to be sending boxes full of socks to the troops and getting on congress to fix that problem.
One more thing -- please wear Red on Fridays to honor our troops. I know it won't really help them in any material way but it shows unity and perhaps helps boost their moral.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, our leaders react more to the votes than to the prayers. Let us send our message to the lord through the prayer, but to the leaders through our vote.

Yes. Thank you for your prayers, I am afraid it will get worse(if possible), before it gets better.
I too continue to pray for all of our troops.
