Also, it is the Medal of Honor, technically. I don't who started the whole "Congressional" thing a long time ago, but it isn't part of the title.

Each branch has their own, though all are very similar. Medal of Honor recipients are the only people, no matter what rank they are, who warrant a salute from all military personnel, from the private to the chairman of the JCS. I met a couple in my time. Very rare as most Medals are awarded posthumously(sp?: meaning whatever they did was so brave that they died performing the act.)

The medal of honour is a pentagram star in all of of its types but each branch of the military has modified its appearance as to colour and mounting. The army and the air force have a open star on a circle while the navy simply has a solid star . The constant is the sky blue ribbon it hangs from the neck by and the hasp areas blue field with stars.

OK, we know you cannot spell nor use "check spelling'.

The answers are good, and such, but what does it "look like".

Trust me it looks like all emotions and ideas have become something you can see.

My best friend had one, through him I met another and along my career one more.

I never "touched" it. He knew why, that is another story.

As Americans we have no "Royal" class no Queen nor King.

But we honor a few, very few with "a medal".

It is more then that.

For most all you will see a very nice piece of metalwork and cloth around the neck: I see as most do a humble man.

You ask them why? They seem to answer: "I do not know"

We cherish them.

The Medal Of Honor when seen will take any serviceman almost to his knees, as he meets greatness, and valor but the men who wear such, are "different" and they just act as they should.

Most say "I wear it for -my men- the guys I was with"

Tis true, they do.

That word "Honor" seems most important to me.

"Doc"

My friend has past on, is gone, but what memories I have upon seeing his medal.

Look it up at Yahoo! or Google image search.

The Navy/Marine Corps Medal of Honor differs in appearance from the Army MoH.

Each service, except the USMC as they use the Navy's, have their own special medal. Although they all have 13 stars on a field of blue.
