Well, if it's not the French's fault, it's the Belgian's! But let's not forget the US Democrats. Problems in the middle east just COULDN'T be due to wrongheaded US policy and incompetence!

As for the Food for Oil Program - sure there was graft, but it was "the only humanitarian programme ever to have been funded entirely from resources belonging to the nation it was designed to help... in nearly seven years of operation, the Programme ...[used] some $46 billion of Iraqi export earnings on behalf of the Iraqi people"

While the US was in control, at least 8 billion in oil receipts went missing!

The four countries that fought the invasion of Iraq were also the main instruments behind the Food-For-Oil scandal and were all purchasing illegal Iraqi oil throughout the embargo.

But you can't just blame France alone, Belgium is equally guilty at stalling the process.
