Yes, Military training is great and you receive hands on experience, you can even qualify for an airframe or power plant certification that will aid you should you get out and want to continue this in civilian life.

As a person that retired from the Air Force my first though was why not join the Air Force instead. But I realize that the USMC needs well trained jet mechs as well.

Consider going for your Air Frame and Power Plant (A&P) License. That would help get a job as a jet mech outside the military whenever you leave. Good Luck!

I can't speak to how much money you'd make, or how well you'd fit into the civilian trade of aviation mechanics, but I bet you'd do well, but I can say that you'd be doing a very honorable thing, and I know God rewards honorable behavior. God Bless you.

becoming a aviation mechanic in any military could be a good trade and a good idea. especially when you get out

Yes. when you get out or retire there is alot of job oppertunities making decent $ for commercial airlines.
